Lap Times

I'm not sure if we have this already somewhere, but I think it would be interesting to see laptimes the club is turning. Any track goes, hopefully there is enough of us to be able to compare.

Personally I'm finding the line between me holding the car back and the car holding me back really blurry lately, so that's why, want to see what folks are turning. Major lap-time-improving mods (tires!) are probably important to list, as well adverse weather.

We can't all run all tracks, but hopefully we get at least 2 people from the same track as reference.

I can go first and keep this list updated on the first post as people post up.

I like the idea of this - will have to look up some of my old times (it's been a while, hah!).

edit: the only recent one I found was:

Laguna Seca 1:55.012
R3, stainless brake lines, HP+, running 245/45/17 PSS; all else stock & stock settings.

R3, stock suspension, HP+ & stainless lines, RB intake, 245/45/15 Michelin PSS, 90-95* ambient temps, and no 3rd gear - it's popping out under load (need to further adjust the 3-4 shifter mechanism to see if that fixes it)...

I need to see what my RX8 can do there - I've only managed a 2:08 during LeMons testing.

Who do you race with, ES, SV, or SCCA time trials?

I'm not fast enough or dedicated enough to actually race. Just HPDEs for the most part. This event was through NCRC, but I've done both ES & SV - ES is typically a shitshow though... I might do an event with Trackmasters later in the year too, we'll see...

Ooh, competition, data, I love it.

2010 RX-8 sport. Decat/midpipe. Dyno'd at 183rwhp in 2013 at MCE racing, Thunderhill. 3086lbs including driver and some gas.
Fatcat coilovers (revalved bilsteins) street/track setup. Track alignment.
Direzza Z2 255/40/17 tires. Now 2 years old.

Times measured with an AIM Solo DL.
  • Mar 2015 Thunderhill 3 mile - 2:12.03, RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, coilovers, Direzza Z2 255/40/17
  • Sep 2014 Thunderhill 5 mile - 3:50.88, RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, coilovers, Direzza Z2 255/40/17
  • July 2014 Sonoma - 2:02.26, RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, coilovers, Direzza Z2 255/40/17
  • May 2014 Buttonwillow 1CW - 2:16.78, RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, coilovers, Direzza Z2 255/40/17
  • Nov 2013 Laguna Seca - 1:49.49, RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, coilovers, Direzza Z2 255/40/17
  • Aug 2013 Thunderhill - 2:15.6, RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, coilovers, Direzza Z2 255/40/17
  • Mar 2013 Thunderhill - 2:21.8 - RX-8 s2 sport, midpipe, stock suspension, Direzza Z2 255/40/17 and 1st time driving the RX-8 car at Thunderhill.

I put the earlier Thunderhill times up so you can see my progression. I still have room to improve at all these tracks, although I feel like I got within a second or two of the limit last time out at Thunderhill.

EDIT, I really wanted to just link to these videos, rather than take up all the space to embed them.

No, we drove star mazda, which I think makes it 1CW, ie: http://buttonwillowraceway.com/pdf/b...ap-race-01.pdf

Got it, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a typo. 1CW isn't as common, so the 2:18 makes sense now
