Another night another failure.

Got this bad boy started... Noticed the bad *** distinctive brap brap of the bridge port... thought to myself wow thats kinda loud with the turbo in place.... then saw the smoke coming from turbo area just before the car stalled...

V-band on the turbo not mated correctly... Fail! Having a complete b1tch of a time getting it mated. Worked on it for about two hours before finally giving up.

Yes I guess it was about three hours. So ready to be done wrenching for a cause. I want to get back to doing it for fun at my own leisure.

You should have just stayed the night. I'm curious to see how that coupler is holding up.

I needed to feed the cats and get my things in order for the weekend.

Coupler is a beast! I think its just going to melt on there and form a perma bond.

Nope had to pull it out. No compression after less then two minutes on front housing. I cannot tell you if it had compression to start with.

Really doesn't matter does it ...not like you started it with 25psi boost and blew it up...

Something ate some seals....and not the small furry ones either

Agreed. can see the center of all the nrs one piece apex seals from the spark plug holes. hope this is not something i did. we have put more then a few engines into cars over the years so i dont think its something simple as a washer pulled into the intake. we will see on Saturday when the builder comes down.

Bridge caught the corner seal and cracked the apex seal into a million little bits for $25

bridge is to small. also if it took out the corner seals it would have taken out other suff. I can still see the apex seals from the spark plug holes. something is up with the side seals cant wait to see. Or maybe the side of my apex seals.

FYI the apex seals are one piece NRS units.

You wont get any inrease in performance from a bridgeport on a turboed renesis anyway. IMO.
The restriction is in the exhaust , not the intake ... just sayin .

The apex seals shouldn't be a problem in themselves...mine have survived a crap builder ( me) and about 24hours of hard tracktime this summer......

What corner seals did you use?

I can speculate till im blue in the face as to what the problem may be but will find out during tear down on saturday. The harder part is going to be getting a new mount built but I have some ideas in mind that may turn out well.
