yes its a cheaper way to go racing on big tracks and the car actually is much better than people assume.the roof of the car was just to heavy for the automatic so it had to go.this is about getting the car to be good on tires and brakes and fuel handling and speed and the best way is removing weight.

if you want to come up here and post negitive comments then move on we work very hard on the car and unless you have built any type of race car you dont get it.we are all rotary fans here so how about more support rather than flaming people for what they have accomplished

This is pretty much par for the course in ChumpCar. Except it's usually a chopped up Miata or Neon or 3-series. I think it looks silly, but hey, whatever gets you speed!

Good luck in the next one!

Seems like it would be fun... at least when the car gets damaged its less hurtful.

It's lighter than having the roll cage and the roof. (Roll cage is not optional for racing, the roof is.)

yep the roof and wind shield and rear door being gone they are just the skin of the rear doors we lost a total of 385 pounds made a insane difference.the car will rev all the way to 9k easy even with the automatic but the gearing sucks when going into 3rd rpms drop to low if you shift at 8k.the car will be converted to 5-speed next year the second car is being built as a 5-speed already without the top weight it will be intrested to see how many seconds we get off our lap times.

at vir on the grand course in the rain we ran a 3.29 which is not to bad for being a auto we did that lap time on 420 compound tires in the wet if you look at lap times at vir grand for a 2009 6 speed stock rx8 it was done at 3.19 with 200 compound tires in the dry so we were not all that far off for a auto 4 port

also the cage is 125 lbs so yes it would be lighter than the roof and rear doors and all glass i know this because i weight it all i like facts over guessing

Awesome chump car. How is the driver fatigue without a windshield/screen/deflector?

Great driving experience. The car is getting better and better with the limited budget. Good job.

just wait until you see the second car its already a 5-speed manual everything is manual but im leaving the 4 port motor for now heck we got it to rev to 9k so with more cooling upgrades im doing i hope the temps will stay down so we can keep shifting the motor at 8.5 to 9k

im also making the car about 60 lbs lighter going manual
