This is the exhaust that says for off-road use only. But it is strrt legal im pretty sure they just put that so theres no way you could put it on them if you got a ticket. But plently of people run it myself included and have not gotten tickets unless you get a mid-pipe then it gets pretty loud.

The weight of the HKS exhaust is 11.5 kilos(25.3 lbs) including the tip, flanges and bolts!!
The hks with my rp supercat was loud as hell, even in low rpms(from 1500 it starts to scream)! Everyone was staring when i was on the road!!
Now i have the oem exhaust with davesport cat and the increase of sound is very noticeable. I dont want to know how davesport cat sounds with hks!!

I know that catbacks are only going to provide a couple hp no matter what, but is there any benefit to having two mufflers instead of one? I'm strongly considering buying the HKS single, and I was just curious.

I picked mine up used with only a few thousand miles on it, so I paid a fair bit less, but it was definitely worth it.
I loved and hated that exhaust. I had it paired with a catless, resonated midpipe. I had quite a few different exhaust combinations when I owned the 8, and the HKS single + resonated midpipe was by far my favorite when I wanted to have fun (which was fairly often in the 8). Being able to make it backfire whenever I wanted never got old. I loved how it sounded, including the volume. Hitting the redline was always a blast. It was also great for flames, especially when I used my nitrous.
My complaints about it: A bit loud for "relaxing" driving. Even for daily driving, I tended to have fun with the 8, but for distance drives or the occasional casual/relaxing drive it was a bit too loud. It was also a little loud for talking to passengers. I'm guessing other people probably considered it similar to a riced out civic, even though it does have a distinct rotary tone. The only other bad part was the empty exhaust shroud on the other side.

Haha, yeah. You can hear it so far off, geez. Before it comes into view.
Just like the Speedsource Rx8's. There can be a Porsche in front of you, close enough to touch practically, the Rx8's a corner or two away, and that's all you hear.
So, RB header and midpipe with it. I'd might end up running a different header, it depends, but that's pretty similar, if not, what I'd be running.
Definitely would be awesome for the autocross/track days, I could see it pissing some passengers off, haha.
