Had the car out at a buddy's house yesterday and took a couple pics. Thought I'd share there here:

Thank you! The paint came out pretty nice. I get a lot of compliments on it when people see it in person that have seen it before I wet sanded and buffed the car. I'm pleased with it. I will probably end up painting it in the future but for this summer I will enjoy the car the way it is.

Had my little guy Max out with me in the garage yesterday and he was all about wanting to be in the 8. I sat him on my lap and let him start the car and turn some music on and pretend he was driving. He had a great time and I was happy to have him with me:

Got the RX-8 sharing the garage with my Guards Red 85 944. There are a few things that I need to do to the 944:

like that 944. It was the best bargain for a hot Porsche. And Mazda copied the look for its Gen 2 RX7

The 944 really is a great car! I have two of them. One early car and one late car, though they are the same year. Porsche did a mid model year change in 1985 and revised the interior and the suspension and the exhaust system. Each car has its ups and downs but I prefer the look of the interior on the late 85 personally. For a true car enthusiast they make great cars and reward the enthusiast driver.

Nice toolboxes haha. Wish I had space like that in my home garage, but sadly in NYC space is a premium and I'm stuck in a 1 car garage.

I can understand that. My old house had a car and a half wide garage that was like 31 feet deep. It worked but I have too many cars to have a one car garage. I'm trying to save up to build a large pole barn and convert it to a shop. I just need to get all of my cars indoors year round.

Took my two oldest kids out for ice cream in the RX-8 yesterday and the weather was awesome. Low 80's and sunny. We drive to Advance Auto to pickup some hood struts for my red Porsche and I notice the sky starting to get really dark. Then the rain came and started hammering down. I walked out and took a couple pics to share here. Through the downpour, the car remained water tight inside. Well played RX-8!

Not too bad. There were some nasty puddles after this rain. Luckily the rain didn't last that long and about half way home the drive how was sunny and clear. The car still bears its rain water marks and is in need of a wash lol.

I am sure with all your car experience you have a favorite wax to use. I love the NUFinish polymer wax. Car beads up for a solid year, even after multiple car washes.

Not much new to report other than the evaporator failing. Its been a hot summer and it kinda suck without A/C. Oh well, at least the windows work.

On a brighter note, I picked up a 1980 RX-7 in Brilliant Black. I had a heart for it because it was neglected and I felt as though it would be a good match to my 8. My plans are to slowly restore the car and enjoy it. Here are some pics from the day I got the car:

I have a deep affection for the early cars for some reason. Very raw and basic and easy to work on and maintain. This car came from Virginia originally. I don't see many SA's around anymore unfortunately. What happened to the car your parents had?

When I was.. I don't know mabye 11-12 it started smoking very heavily. Honestly now knowing what I know I thought oil control ring.

My pops been a mechanic/appraiser etc for 30+ years but knew nothing about rotary. Even now, the only time he has shown up at my house is the day I tore the engine down on the 8. Literally once he saw a rotor and the E shaft he said "okay, Seya buddy" and out the door he went.
So since rotary mechanics were nil around here he decided to scrap it.

I drove past it quite often after I got my license. (They set it up on a coal bank outside if the scrap yard) once it rotted away, they crushed it...

Sad really. It was a beautiful car.
