You go ahead and put your own turbo in. Meanwhile, I'll take one with a factory warranty, thank you very much.

Rather get the factory warrenty eh, well i'd rather put my own in and not tell insurance that i have an extra 100hp in my car and save me around 1000$ bucks a year (o and i'd probally put a T4 turbo adding bout 170-230 more hp). (im a first time driver)

i am thinking about it! always liked them and they had a function as well-they were for cooling. if i have to put my front plate over the air intake those might help make up for the lost airflow.

Don't know about the USA, but they will nail you to the wall if they find out.... it's so not worth it.

I think that 250 is enough for me... who was it said that is you can't be quick with 90Bhp then 900Bhp won't help.

Are you saying that this is you FIRST car?... Don't you think it's a bit unwise to talk about nearly doubling the power on a car that's ALREAY seriously quick, experience is somthing that you get just after you needed it.... try not to overdose!

We'll have to see what they do... but one way or another there is no way I will block ANY of the air intakes with a plate.

You will easily have to spend more than the cost of the Mazdaspeed upcharge and the savings on the insurance to do what you're talking about. And that's assuming you get lucky and don't blow and engine on the way, and that's assuming that you do the basic, cheapest upgrade to handle simple 1/4 mile stresses.

How many cars have you modified like this?

And I would be careful of trying to get one by on the insurance company. If something happens... and then try to get insurance somewhere else.

Sad to say but odds are if you're a first time driver this car is seriously going to get damaged.

That is of course, if you're a teenager. Teens have no self control, by in large. Adding a turbo will just cause you trouble but hey... if your folks are buyin the car whatever. I have to work for it.

This is a thread we've had before, so can we avoid getting bogged down more than necessary!

One thing I did find pretty inspirational with regard to the way "teenagers" are... is the safety advice at the top of this web page:-

Yes i am a teen currently 15........... 16 in may when the car comes out and 17 when i buy it. Am i immature? (YES!) at least when i come to my pride. And i probally will end up racing the RENESIS, but i not going to do in someplace unsafe. Saying that ill get into an accident is a lil harsh, im not stupid, i no my limits. But im not going to get into an age war with all u experience drivers. So on a different note:

Anyone realize that with 335hp this thing will probally beat out the 2002 supras in japan (on the track of course). GO ROTARY!

What I meant to say was.. the statistics are against you as a first time driver.

Believe me I said the same thing you said and I still got into an accident.

It will LIKELY happen (though hope it doesn't), but the only thing you can do is to know your limits and try not to show off for your friends as I have done in the past and had some close calls

You just got a lot of respect for saying that, not being offended and not lieing or keeping quiet about your age.

Quote:

And some more...... for realising that, somthing that a lot of people that age might not admit, even to themselves.

Quote:

Good luck, this car is somthing to be enjoyed, NOT driven to the shops.

Quote:

Not SO harsh I'm afraid, STATISTICALLY you are 7 times more likley to be in an accident in the first year than at any time after that..... I'm sure many people on this board have done that and are probably better drivers as a result...

Quote:

im not stupid, i no my limits.
No,... most likley you don't! the only real way to know your limit is to cross it and that is normally painful!.. I doubt that many people on here other than any real professional drivers know really what their limits are... the best the rest of us can do is to keep a little in reserve and hope it's enough when the unexpected happens.

Quote:

But im not going to get into an age war with all u experienced drivers.
There is no war to be fought, I have no issue with age... some of my best friends are much younger than me... we are happy to welcome you to the fold, it's just that once you have some experience it's hard to watch some person who doesn't necessarily have that experience make mistakes you wish you had avoided yourself!!!

Also, for most people in here... a $30,000 car is a big investment,... and they don't really understand how you can afford it at 17... it's nothing personal.

Quote:

So on a different note:

Anyone realize that with 335hp this thing will probally beat out the 2002 supras in japan (on the track of course). GO ROTARY!
I think we can all agree on that....

Ahh knowing your limits is always a good thing... but theres that rush of pushing the car to higher speeds so technicaly you can not stay within your limits when you are young. Hehe I know I pushed thelimits of my 89 honda. 100 mph but I'm 19 now i've had my license for many years. And it is true first time drivers are statisticaly higher prone to accidents. MY friends lil bro just became a statistic when he rear ended someone. As long as you got good instincts you should be ok . lots of things happen when you are unsupervised and driving alone or with friends. All regards I admit when i first started driving i had some close calls. because I was young. and thrilled to be driving. Just stay cool for a few years and get use to driving around then race if you feel like it. control is key.

Good advice is to get a used Miata, beat the crap out of it and learn a LOT, then by that time the MPS RX-8 should be out and.......

wow u people really care..., thats very nice of all of u considering this is an internet forum.. and just a little carification in not some lil rich bit*ch i've had a good paying (by my a 15year olds standards) job since i was 14. So over 3 years (when i buy the car 3 years that is) i've made nearly enough to pay for the rx-8, about 5000 short but hopefully mommy (hehe) will cover that. I hope im not paying 5k for insurance a year though.

you're in jersey right? $5,000 is a little much but you might be paying $2,000 regardless of the type of vehicle and the mps8 will probably have you pushing $3,000.

NJ?

Forget the RX-8 you'll pay more for the insurance than you will for the car.

I live in NJ too and I'm 21 now.. the insurance will run me PROBABALY around 250 a month. For you its at least 400+
