Wonder if the key blank will be available in the States. Surely there will be a way to purchase this key blank! Must have.

In japan, this is one of the dealer options. The price is around USD$ 85.

Edit: only silver plated one may be available as a dealer option,
because there is only one part number in the option list.
(Adding to the USD$85, you need key cut fee)

The keys for US spec 8's don't have a security "chip" in them do they? I would love to get the key assuming it will work. I recognize the key pattern as Ford Motor Co., and as such, my guess would be no.

you should be able to program your key at the dealership assuming the Japanese 8's will be using the same type of cypher for the US 8's

PS. Holy Crap $85 for a blank key!!!!!!!

I am already trying to get a key blank. I don't care what it cost.. (OK well not really!!) but I do want that key. In fact, in a perfect world I would like two. I wanna keep one from getting wear/tear. :D

For your information...

In Australia anyone who placed a pre-order gets one of these keys programmed also to start the car.

For all those on the other side of the world, the Aussie dealers will be selling these for AUD$88 (about US$50), blank and I suspect without electrics.
