The RX8 is a great looking car, but every time I see it next to a FD I am blown away at how amazing that car is. The design is 10 years old and is still the best looking car to ever come out of Japan. Hopefully the next 7 will be able to come close to the FDs amazing looks.

The FD does have its own unique look. This is the first time I've seen an RX-8 parked next to an RX-7 and it's interesting to see how big the '8 is compared to the '7.

I totally agree!! That's one of the reasons I'm thinking about getting a FD instead of the 8 (for now, and wait for the mazdaspeed version and the new 7)

I have kind of the opposite reaction. I am a former FDS3 RX-7 owner and agree it's one of the best looking cars ever. However, now seeing it next to the RX-8, the FD seems a bit dated. I think the RX-8 look just as good, but in a different more cutting edge kind of way.

I completely agree.

The FD is aging very nicely, but as soon as you put it next to the RX-8 you can tell right away which one is the newer design.

Too bad you can't say the same for the Cosmo. It is very dated looking now.

Who cares? I'll take a somewhat dated exterior with that beautiful 3 rotor 20B they've got crammed under there!

Actually I agree with you. The 3-rotor was quite an accomplishment.

The 1968 Cosmo had a 10A, and the 1978 Cosmo had a 13B. What Cosmo had a 20B?

Edit: Never mind, I found it.

'big' is one way to put it... i think "bloated" is better. I wonder if RX-Hachi thinks the FD body is dated since he sees one everyday, since i hardly ever see one, i think the lines of FD are still awesome! has anyone ever seen the millenia and the 6 side by side?... i get the same feeling: the 6 is bloated, the millenia is lean and mean (well sorta).

it will be quite interesting to see the the next rx-7 though...

I was passed by an identical RX-7 (grey) recently and I was drooling. It was one of the best looking cars I'd ever seen and it just strolled past me. I didn't even suss what it was until I saw the rear Mazda badge. Beautiful! Unreliable and drinks like a fish of course...

You can definitely see the family resemblance in the lights and grille...
