If you look through the colar, you can see the printing on the back. I don't think what your seeing is a stain. I think it is what is printed on the back.

IMO they would look better if it was just speedsource, mazda and mazdaspeed and not all the other companies.

Left hand side of the shift about halfway down. It doesn't look like writing or a picture to me.
