I can't figure out why people can't seem to accept or understand that the Shinari ISN'T A CAR CONCEPT.
It's a DESIGN LANGUAGE CONCEPT. They had to put a chassis and engine under it to drive it around, but they are just showing off the idea of the lines, the visuals, the style.

i keep looking at that and thinking "thats not Shinari"
and here's why
1. The wheel base actually looks shorter to me. look at the skirt length between front and rear wheel openings.
2. look at the grill. its not the shinari's. it looks more like the 2 part opening of the 3 facelift but its not that either because the emblem is down in the "mustache"
d. the roof takes a different line when it turns down towards the trunk. its "flat" rather than following the curve and when it drops into the rear fender it doesn't turn and follow the arc of the fender. it almost looks like a hatch roof to me.

It's a design language
There are lots of different exact dimensions and details out there if you image search it. Perhaps it's just the visual difference that are slowly making their changes on the way to market.

The proof is in the pudding
Mazda has just announced the Mazda Takeri concept vehicle to be displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is what was being hinted and will bring forth the new Mazda 6.

Also... This Skyactiv crap is Mazda joining Honda and Toyota in the MPG hunt. I fear they have stepped away from Sports cars all together.
Nissan is going to the be only one left catering to a dying performance market.
$5 says Mazda pulls the whole mazdaspeed line and throws these skyactiv engines in every car.

I would disagree with that. Skyactiv engines are focused on increasing fuel economy but have not made sacrifices to power thus far. They have released Skyactiv engines that produce little power, but they're small displacement engines that are focused for fuel efficiency and are optional engines. Most companies, including Mazda, have offered multiple engine options and usually there's a "fuel efficient" engine and a "performance" engine. It's nothing new. Might as well make an effort to improve on the engines and take advantage of the catchy name for marketing purposes.
Have any of the Skyactiv engines replaced a more powerful engine for a particular platform?
