I was at the auto show here in tiny Tulsa today. I was speaking with the rep from Mazda North America, he said that 2011 will be the last year for the Rx8. He also said we should expect to see a 2 seater Rx7 by 2013 for around 27k. He wouldn't give me any other details than that. I haven't been able to verify anything online, but I wanted to post what I was told.

Great if it's true but at this stage, I'd still take that info with a grain of salt.
Either way, it seems the 8 will prove to be the lame sheep of the modern rx car era, sadly. Hehe, didn't stop any of us from purchasing our cars though!
Great to hear, I hope it's true. But unless that person was a legitimate "higher up" its still unsubstantiated.
I did see a new mazda commercial that aired during the 12 hours of Sebring coverage. It was ALL footage of the speedsource rx8 at Daytona and, interestingly, the announcer almost bizzarely stressed "performance and RELIABILITY" in his voice. Heh yes the footage was from a 4 hour motor race, but maybe they're trying to make a point....

honestly.... with all the engineering and modifications that was put into the S2's I highly doubt that the product run would only last 3 years, just seems to costly of a move for such a short production run.

i know its shitty quality but there is an article about it in the april issue of super street magazine. so if you can get your hands on this issue its on page 16. it has a 1.6 liter 350 horsepower engine. it is the RX-7
