Would U keep it OR Would U leave it?(power loss)
Ok there has been a lot of talk about the power loss in our 8' s according to a couple of people who have Dyno them. Some say it is ormal, some say no way for the money/expectation. SO ere is a poll to see a % of which side of the balance people wll go for.
IF and ONLY IF this power loss problem is real, so real that mazda itself recognizes it as they did with the fiasco with their miatas,
1. Would U keep the 8 accepting the 40+ hp loss from advertise and a 'incentive customer satisfaction plan' or what ever other crap mazda throus out as they did with the miata if there is no solution to that power loss
OR
2. Would U leave it back at the dealer if mazda offers to buy them back, take the money and buy something else...
I believe on paying for something i feel i get the best for my buck, so i would vote, LEAVE IT . lets face it $30K is a lot of money and there are other good performace cars out there for that money(more or less)with probably better gas milage too. Now i LOVE the 8 but...

Is this title ok?
I would keep it base on the fact that when I first put my deposit on this car, I have no clue how much this rotary HP & TQ will be like. Now I have owned it, I love it. If it is in fact a deficit in power and Mazda is offering an incentive? That would be great and as many people have speculated, the engine has potential

Personally if there *is* a power deficit and Mazda acknowledges it... I'll just make them reduce my lease payment, that's all.
I enjoy the car, I am happy with the power, so why would I give it up even if it's 'rated' at some other number? Still drives the same way to me. If Mazda decided to give me a nice incentive to keep it then I would; though I'd bitch and moan just to make sure I got a nice lower payment

Also think about it, you spend $30K for the car and then would pay for the mods to make it to the #s they promised, how much would you spend? 4K for a complete turbo kit if we are lucky, thats $34k, then exaust, intake, manifold, plus, plus.. sorry too much money for 250+hp and 20mpg IMO if the car really ends up having 200 hp only .

Another thread about this.. sigh..
First of all, it's NOT a 40hp "loss", it's about 20-25. We have enough rumours and speculations here already, we don't need erronous numbers either. I've seen people talk on other boards about this 40hp "deficit".. it's NOT 40hp.
I would probably keep it unless Mazda's compensation was not substantial enough to my liking.

It is almost 0% loss at 6000RPM, about 5% loss at 7250. and about 10% loss at 8500.
It is about 25HP loss at the peak and maybe a 20HP loss average in the upper RPM range (6500-9500) where you would be for a hardcore 0-60 launch.

Whoops.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, the rotary is what makes the car for me; I wouldn't even give the 8 a second look if it had a conventional engine under the hood...

Assuming it's a real issue - I would lose faith in Mazda and not return to their dealership for a long long time. If they can't get the power ratings claim right, then the reliability (Renesis), safety claims also become very questionable in my mind.
