My next car will be a convertible. I would rather it was an RX-8 than a used Boxster or 350Z but unless they announce a convertible, I think I will be buying one of those others instead... So please, Mazda, if you are out there listening, announce a convertible (preferably hard top)

If they haven’t it looks like you will be buying a Boxster, start saving my pennies now!
Motor Trend announced that Nissan will be producing a convertible version of the z in 2004.
I personally think that a hartop on a four seater will be too much. It will consume too much luggage and it will look awkward... but I'd love to see Mazda make a convertible.
Why not just give up the back seats if you have the hard top down? I actually would rather do that because when you are in a four seat convertible with the top down you can't really talk with the people behind you.
tnagpal... in R&T, it stated that the platform the RX-8 was built on is suitable for a convertible and that the Miata might even use it. That's a little hinty pants.
Yes, a convertible would be great! As a Miata owner with small kids who complain I always have one seat for them, I'd love that. Rumor has it that there will be an RX-7 made on the same platform, and that could be the convertible though. Only 2 seats then Anyways, with 3 kids, I guess one of them would feel left out too in the RX-8?
I just don't see the RX-8 in a convertible. It would look pretty good if it was a two seater, but then that would defeat the whole purpose of the RX-8 (suicide 4 door, 4 seat).
