White Face Gauges for the RX8
#4
ew. the gauges on the rx8 are unique and one of the best looking. dont need white faced gauges. dont turn your car into a civic type of car and mod it up with no sense of looks at all. BTW, stickers dont add more hp

I beg to differ...I've seen a lot of civics with plenty of stickers. It's a known fact that 1 sticker=5hp!!! The bigger the sticker...watch out!!!:D

Some people think the Mazda RX8 looks sexy with stock gauages, while others beg to differ and think that it needs a new style. Nonetheless, I doubt a change in gauge color will affect the beauty of the RX8. That is just my 2 cents.

FREE ADVICE!
I have always thought the gauges looked GREAT in the RX-8, even more so at night time. I wouldn't change a thing with the gauges. With that said, I have a difficult time reading the LED display above the radio during the day. I have to hold my hand over it to be able to read it on a sunny day.

I would be interested in a kit to change the red backlighting of the gauge faces to blue (indgo). My VW's had this and it is very good on the eyes

The blue light from the gauges would be kind of cool with my blue rex, but I'd still leave the gauges as is, they give it that nice touch with out being civic rice.

Actually the blue green color is better for your eyes than the red. Years ago the U. S. Army did a study and placed three acft out in a field and turned on the instrument lighting. One with white lenses, one with red and the last with a green/blue color lenses. They then looked at the acft thru NVGs at a distance of 5kms the white, well it looked like it was a ball of fire. The red one looked like the whole interiorr was glowing and the blue green showed no glowing at all, the windows all showed up black. Granted this was to see if acft that were on missions under black out conditions could be detected by the enemy thru the NVGs. The acft with red interior lighting could be seen up to 5km away using current NVG technology. This is why all army acft now come equipped with green lighting and older acft have been retrofitted with geen flood lights on all the consoles.
Oh and a side note night vision was restored 50% faster after viewing the breen/blue llight then with red.

WTF bro! The U. S. military has always used the metric system. It lends it self to interoperability with our NATO members.
acft = aircraft
NVG = Night Vision Goggles

Everytime some one starts talking about modding their car I break out the example of The Beverly Hillbillies where Jethro hotrods (vintage term - some of you may not know what this means- the modern slang would be "mod") the family jalopy. He ends up with so many left over parts that Granny puts them back together, and just to prove that the old car was fine as is, pours some quadruple X moonshine and smokes Jethro at the strip.
Moral of the story: You want a faster car, buy a faster car. Also applies to cosmetics. If you don't like the way it looks, get a different car. The car stock is great.
