what should i buy to boost my rx8's performance?

ok so i know theres a lot of posts that probably ask the same question but i'm new to this and well idk where to start

I bought an automatic RX8 a couple of months ago and now i want to make it faster and well i wanted to know what i could do to boost its performance a bit but not spend way too much money. Something affordable but at the same time it does a good job at boosting my cars performance

Thanks in advanced for the help

How about.......a great looking girlfriend..... ( or boyfriend depending on gender and persuasion)

Everyone will be so busy looking at him/her they won't notice you have an automatic

There are a lot of different mods that are available for the Rx-8 but only give you minimum hp gain but if you managed to get your hands on a flux capacitor, you could possibly reach excessive speeds of 88 mph.

http://store.zeckhausen.com/catalog/...zmap=FC.121.99 Flux capacitor is roughly $45,000. A replica will cost you only $250.

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade anything, that was the point I was trying to make.
A new catback system would maybe give you a 3-4bhp gain, running catless I think around 12. Racing Beat Revi Intake would maybe give you a 2bhp gain, headers might help a bit, but that's about it really unless you go turbo or supercharged, but I wouldn't recommend it with an auto 8 because the transmission can't support the added horsepower.

What you should invest in is upgrading your coils, spark plugs, wires, etc as you said in your thread that you just purchased the vehicle and what's more important is the reliability of your motor and that's a pretty good way to start since you probably don't know when the last time they were replaced.

Either a mazdaspeed badge or a miata. Driving the miata will make your automatic 8 feel faster.

Why you guys hatin' on automatics? Auto's and manuals have advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages: Auto

1. Only use 1 foot (specially if the other foot is injured)
2. No need to concentrate (car will change gear for you)
3. No headaches on bumper to bumper traffic (just relax your hands)

Disadvantages: Manual

1. What if 1 foot is injured (oh well, call a taxi cab)
2. Need to concentrate (don't forget to press the clutch and shift gears)
3. Bring Excedrin to take out the pain if stuck in bumper to bumper traffic.

Anyway, back to the op's question, i have no comments whatsoever, because some members here will just flame me on whatever i say (they don't trust me...lol).

I've seen so many of these threads. For the love of God, try searching.

That being said, the '8 was never meant to go fast in a straight line (N/A, at least). It excels in cornering and handling. If you wanted more power, the truth is you should have bought a manual - they have more power, plain and simple.

Instead, spend your money on things to make the car run better/smoother. i.e. coils, plugs, wires, insulate a/c lines, plug/direct radiator air flow, grounding kit, etc. These things can be relatively cheap and will help out the car and save you money in the long run.

I'm not sure if you're being serious but I think you forgot a big one. POWER. I love the no need to concentrate haha. Yeap, need to concentrate when you drive!

not to mention he starts of by saying both have advantages and disadvantages, and then proceeds to mention only advantages for autos, and only disadvantages from manuals ...

annddd not to mention that neither of the 3 listed is a disadvantage at all unless you dont know how to drive worth a damn...

Well, depending on how many miles are on your car currently, and what the compression numbers are on your current engine, I would say that a quality engine rebuild from one of our forum sponsors is probably going to be the best bang for the buck you are going to get from your car.

The next best thing is going to be seriously sticky tires, and a track day at a great road course track.

BC.
