What is this? Rear/black rubber, little door

I looked in the owners manual. NO GO
Don't know what to search for in the forum, so can't do search.

06 shinka MT
On rear of car, behind muffler, on black plastic with triangles, on right side, to the right of the rear accent and left of the muffler exhaust tip, there is a small "door"

I open it and I see a what seems to be a 3-4 inch pipe with threads inside.
Anyone know what that is for?
TIA

I think that's where the two hooks go, and I'm pretty sure it's in the manual.

Thanks, found it, pp 7-26, after you pointed me in the right direction. Yes, for tow hooks.
Thanks again

for some reason my tow hooks are missing from my trunk (bought the car used) - what do the tow hooks look like and is it worth ordering some new ones?

There's a spot for the front and a spot for the rear.
Technically, you don't really need it if you have roadside assistance. If you live in an RV home and you need to tow your car places, the tow hook will help. Race cars have tow hooks so that they can be towed onto the track or pit lane.

Not really worth worry about unless you plan on trailering it yourself and/or need them for tie downs or a tow.

You really don't think it's ricey? If you're not using the tow hook and it's just on there for cosmetics then it's pretty rice to me. RICE = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements.

I bought my 06 Shinka used. The 2 previous owners must not have taken care of it much.
1. Missing engine, battery cover..already bought
2. front drives corner lens..broken. CC on the way
3. Seats dirty...already cleaned and re cleaned.
4. rear nut on black fuse "compartment" in front drivers side , next to engine MISSING
still looking for one. guess at a hardware store.
5. Exterior of car not washed/waxed
6. No owners manual, missing. carmax would pay for it, if buyer would buy one and submit to Carmax within 30 days..he did not do it.
7. TBS not done, exp emissions.
8. No mods...working on those

You now know you can download the manual at www.mazdausa.com for free right?
You'll have to join as an owner and will ask for the VIN, but I would do it anyway as that's one way Mazda will know you own it and the site does have some useful info on it........like when there is a recall on your car and what-not. Doesn't list TSB's that I'm aware of though.

I thought those were tie-down hooks, not tow hooks.

If an 8 needs to be flat-bedded, does the average tow truck driver really look for this kind of thing?

No, they don't. That's why you should be standing there explaining to the tow truck driver how to do it correctly.

That's why we should always use Mazda Roadside Assistance, so a trained knowledgeable tow operator will show up.

Think I'll look for those gizmos so I'll know what to show Cooter if I ever need his services.

I'm shattered.

I had this image of highly trained MRA technicians, with snappy uniforms and a fleet of well maintained Holmes 440s, strategically based throughout the country. Spending most of their time playing pinochle with Maytag repairmen, but ready to scramble when the call comes in.

I'm not going to ask anyone here about Santa Claus.

Christ on a bus man! Did you even look at the car? Or did they pay you to take it? Because I wouldn't take a car cared for like that even if it were free.
