Guessed it's because the battery was getting weak. Changed the battery yesterday and key fob works like a charm from good distance.

While getting the battery at O'Reillys, I picked up a couple of quarts of Lucas premix, and at the check out I noticed they raised the price from 6 something to $9.99. Wtf? Seems for a couple more bucks I can get the Idemitsu from ebay now....
I've been buying idemitsu premix from mazdatrix by the case for 99.96 shipped, which makes it about 8.25 a qt. shipping from there is a bit pricey but still cheaper than others.

I buy Lucas by the gallon from Amazon and fill my own containers. It is much cheaper that way.

Today, I had it aligned to new specs. I'll see how it shakes out at the track on the 27th if it doesn't rain. If not, I'll be back out there on the 1st.

I've only used Lucas 2 cycle oil, the blue stuff. It's a semi-synthetic.

Just thinking this morning as I'm driving the 8, I'd like to take a moment and thank Felix Wankel for conceiving this engine design and commercializing it for us! :D

Drove to the gym and back this morning and to the store, Put motul 710 in the Sohn tank and filled it up! Filled up washer fluid and most importantly, installed the RX8 door sill plate and wow, i missed it lol! about 750 miles on the motor. So far so good!

You're been getting a really good price up until now.
I thought $9.99 was a normal price.

Installed AutoEXE header.
Started it up with just the header. Wow this thing is loud.
Installed BHR resonated midpipe. Started it up. Wow this thing is loud.
Installed RB Rev8 exhaust. Started it up. Wow this thing is quiet!

Waiting on engine mounts to get the car back on the road.

Interested in poly diff mounts. Stock mounts look new, but I easily push the diff around by hand a good 1/4". hmmm.

Quiet sucks.

Interested in poly diff mounts.
If you want a quiet car inside, lose interest in the poly mounts. I have them along with hard poly engine mounts, and the NVH inside is like a death metal rock concert. I love it. Chicks and Camry drivers don't.

But now the shifter is always where I left it when I'm pounding around a race track and grab for the next gear.

Appreciate the heads up.
Works out to about $.60 a tank less.
I buy it from an O'Reilly's next to where I get my E091, so it's pretty convenient.
I tend to forget stuff, so I don't want to rely on ordering it.

I like it in between Camry and death-metal. Might look for a non-catted MP to get a little sound out of the exhaust. It's very tame. Best compromise I've ever had was my old '90 GTUs: poly everything, full RB exhaust (much louder than this one) but sound deadener added too. Very mechanical and responsive without being obnoxious.

I had a fully built 500whp T2 years back, solid mounts throughout, bridgeport, straight exhaust. That thing rocked & rolled like a big-cam V8 at idle Fun but tiring.

Today I finally installed the replacement coolant overflow tank. Now the coolant light stays out, and not because the sensor is unplugged.

Today i changed both the trans and diff gear oil and oh my what a difference it made in changing gears. The last time it was done according to carfax was 40k miles ago. I replace what look like conventional oils with redline. I put new OEM crush washers on each bolt, but when i took the bolts out, every one of them had copper washers.

Before the changed the gear oils, I had a hard time getting it in reverse without letting up on the clutch and pushing it in reverse. Now every gear feels like butter.

I planned on also swapping out the motor mounts I just received in the mail, but the bots were too tight and i didn't have an extension long enough to use my impact wrench. So i just soaked the heck out of all the bolts and will be going to pick up an extension tomorrow. My dash sounds like its trying to shake itself apart when i hit about 1200 rpm. I noticed when I sprayed them today that the the motor is low and almost sitting on the mount from the back. The front of it looks like a good mount but when i saw it from the back it is sitting way to low. Cant wait to change them out.

So much work and so little time do it but enjoying every minute of it. Already looking for a spare 8 for when i have to replace this motor.

Took a vid with the new exhaust
Slight flamage!
This is taken with a Mobius mini-cam strapped to the rear suspension. Sound is oversaturated but gives an idea.

How is it costing you that much? I order them by the case too and my total shipped to my door is $67 USD

Installed the Roots Racing motor mounts. Installation was a bigger hassle than it should be.
Me likey the results. Tightened up the drivetrain a lot. Shifter has a nice little vibe to it now Looking into diff mounts...

Lucas 2-stroke semi-syn rocks - I use it in my S2 at 0.25 oz/gallon or 4.5 oz/ full tank from empty (no I don't run my tank down past 1/4 - EVER). Talked to the Lucas formulators and this stuff has the correct level of polybutenes for clean lubrication and clean burning of the premix in the rotor chamber. Idemitsu's oil sucess was based in 1990s on polyB as well.

I previously used Motul 710 2-stroke but the cost was prohibitively high.

Well I finally got everything i needed to change out my motor mounts. It ended up being a little more of a task than it should have but that was just because my stupid air compressor. The unloader valve was stuck and I couldn't figure out how to fix it till i got around a computer to look it up. So after every bolt I loosened i had to empty the compressor and start it back up. If it wasn't for the cheap compressor I have, I could have did the whole job in about 30 minutes. When i took off the passenger side mount, it was broken which i could not even see when i inspected them before I even bought the new ones.

After i got the mounts changed, I put in a axial flow short shifter. Im still not sure why Mazda didn't have something like this in the first place except for having a little more audible whine from the gear box but if feels very nice.

I also installed new shift boot insulators since mine had wear holes in the old ones. After I installed the new boots most the whine I heard is almost gone now.

I took the 8 out for a little joy ride and it feels like there is 50 more horses in it. just kidding but it does feel soo much more responsive when i touch the gas. The new mounts helped a little with the 1300 RPM vibration but at least its not as bad as before when it sounded like my dash wanted to rattle itself apart.

The more i work on this car, the more i want to buy another one cause im going to be sad if the engine poops out on me and have to drive my truck all the time till I get the 8 rebuilt.

Today installed Spohn adaptation, what a PIA! I forever have trouble getting electrical connectors undone.

Got the stock front sway bar our to install the adj PT bars, but one of the upper sway bar bolts decided to be difficult, so had to cut it off with a grinding wheel. Same goes for both end links. New adjustable end links need to go in once I drill out what's left of the end links.

Got all hose clamps attached after install low temp thermostat, that all went fairly well.

Need to buy coolant so I can fill the system after I installed Koyo radiator last weekend.

AEM intake went in last weekend too.

Overall progress is good, hoping to button it up for a track day in 3 weeks

Good job. But ya know, you could have just used on ordinary wrench and saved a bunch of time.
