Well I WAS going to get an RX8....and I did:)

Just bought it yesterday.

Turns out, the Titanium Gray with the Touring package model was on another lot, and ended up getting sold in the time I was in the dealership signing papers!

However, another truck had just arrived with a BRAND new one with 0 miles on it. It still has to go through PDI (post-delivery inspection) apparently, and the lazy bastards on the other lot left work yesterday at like noon.

Soo, I have to wait until tomorrow to pick up my new ride.

Dealer is ordering the Spoiler, floor mats, cargo net, etc and that stuff should be put on/in this next weekend.

I'm so excited, but moritified at what I've done. Sooo much money (I'm 25, this is my first new car).

Soo, on a totally unrelated note, does anyone want to buy a 96 MX-6 M-edition with 92k miles? Great condition....

That's exactly how I felt yesterday when I was giving the dealer my deposit. I'm 24 and this is the first car I have bought on my own. My dealer didn't have the car I wanted on the lot, so they are getting from another dealer. I'm expecting it to be ready by the middle of the week. Congrats.

Eerie coincidences, I'm 24 and this is my first new car as well. Seems like a pattern is developing here.

Hey guys -- I'm more than twice your age and this is my first car that was not a compromise of some sort. Congratulations. RELAX and enjoy it. Drive safe. The world is your oyster.

Shebam, isn't that the truth! I always said I would have a sports car of some type before 40, it came and went. Now with 50 fast approaching, just had to do it or it might be 60. And I don't regret it for a minute either

You youngs guys have fun and be safe.

Let me know when 50 arrives and we'll start an AARP threatd -- share back remedies, etc.

guys i know exaclty how u feel.. i bought the car just after my 22nd bday. Just started working about 2 months before it. With so many of my friend being laid off i was like **** this could be a horrible idea... but now ive learned the most important thing about buying a car is havin 3 months worth of payments sitting in a safe somewhere for a rainy day..

oh yah not having other major expenses like rent is good too.. not like my college loan helps though!

i had a choice move out or new car.. i can deal with the parents.. and my job is 5 mins from my house so moving is just stupid

as for the 8 have fun its a great car to have at this age..

I'm sorta twice your age - back in '79, I did the "practical" thing and bought an Accord instead of an RX-7. Really dumb move.

There may be few things you'll do now that you might regret later, but I don't think buying your 8 will be one of them.

Cheers

Got you beat; I hit the double nickle in January. With kids out of the house, my wife finally couldn't object to a sports car. But then the one I wanted had 4 doors anyway!

Shebam - I've had three sports car phases of lfe so far - (1) under 25 - had a 1969 Camaro (2) under 35 - RX-7 and now since over 45 - four sports cars including the ones below plus a 2001 SLK320. Life is better - at least in my own mind - as long as I have it. John

I guess I never really comprimised. My first car, at 18 was an '87 Fiero which we slightly modified for hp. Still didn't corner too good. Then a few years later I bought the '91 MR2 turbo which we heavily modified to get nearly 575 hp at the flywheel. Next I bought a '95 M3 installed Dinan chip. And now I have the RX-8 :D . oh yeah, I will be 32 in May :p :p :p .

God bless you! When I was 25 I bought a VW bug convertible with the crap beat out of it for too much money. I hope you have as much fun as I did :D

I wish I could've been in a position to buy such a great car at such a young age . . . but then they didn't make one when I was in my early 20's! I just turned 36 and the 8 is just my 3rd new car too - after an 87 Escort GT and 94 Probe GT. My last rwd car was a Ford Pinto before the Escort.

It seems like I only buy a new car every ten years or so, but I told myself that my next car would be rwd or awd, fast, and a sports car with no compromises. As it turns out, the 8 is a very practical car on top of fitting that bill. Even sweeter! :D

23 here... this is my first new car also... its soo nice... with that new car smell

my previous cars were an 87 rx7 turbo which made me fall in love with rotaries and a 92 3000GT vr4.

The Rx8 is my favorite by a slim margin... but that will get bigger the longer i have it!

This is my mid life crisis car...so I say. I'm 47, have only had 3 new cars that I can call my own in my life and those have all been since 2000. First was a 2000 Neon, a compromise since it was a gift from my parents. (I was broke, from a divorce and bankruptcy and the family mini van I got with my kids from the divorce was ailing fast). Next I bought an '02 Dakota for practicality, my new wife had the "impractical" car, an '01 Eclipse. She got rid of it for an '03 CRV and it was time for my "impractical" ride, the RX-8. I figured I would enjoy this more at 47 than at 57 so now was the time. I was thinking about a used RX-7 before the RX-8 but decided for the 8 cause it looked nicer to me. (last damn time I play Need for Speed Underground and decide that it would be nice to have such a ride! )The 4 doors with a back seat looked nicer for insurance reasons, too.

You young guys enjoy it for as long as you can. You're only as old as you want to be and I am like Peter Pan, I don't want to grow old!
