Just got a Mazda RX-8 last night - 2006 with only 3,500 miles. Grand Touring with everything minus nav and spoiler. Looking forward to breaking her in.

Anyone have good suggestions for a spoiler? I seen some people were recommending the GTO spoiler, which oddly enough was the other car I was looking at getting.

Seems much nicer then my 96 Grand Am GT - LOL

Sweet!

Welcome to the club
FYI; Pre mix, keep up on the oil and use 5-w30 in the summer time and wot that bitch.

I like the OEM one with all the ap parts installed. But if your going to get a kit get the MS kit and spoiler.

Yeah I just keep staring at it... I cant stop. Its funny how many heads turn when I drove it home. I love the fact that almost no one around me has an RX8, its a very unique car and I love it.

I'm glad I choose it over the GTO. Granted the GTO might be quicker, it does not have the style of the 8.

Yeah that's true, its amazing how you just "feel" the road when driving it.

Oh, do you guys think I got a good deal:

2006 Mazda RX8 - GT (w/ appearance package)
No spoiler or navigation
Only 3,500 miles
Previous owner was the wife of the GM of the dealer.
Has the advanced keyless (not sure if that's standard)

Cost me $24,895.00

I think you got an ok deal . . . certainly nothing to trouble yourself over. Guess it depends on the market where you live. Did you shop around and wrangle a bit to see what a new one or a left over 2007 could be gotten for?

Last spring (2007) I paid $27,740 OTD after rebates for a new 2007 GT.

Well there were alot for under 20k but did not have leather or appearance or had higher miles. I wanted something with very low miles and the works. I have been talking to the dealer for about 2 weeks about the car and then 2 days before I was ready to buy it I seen a 2007 black RX8 GT with 3,300 miles for $24,000.00 Since it did not have the appearance package I just kept with the '06.

Welcome to the cult of the rotary.

If I may suggest only 1 thing, remove that ridiculous air dam in front of your sunroof. The sunroof is pretty quiet even without it.

Yeah I agree with you, since im kinda a n00b when it comes to that stuff, is it screwed down into the car? I noticed there is a screw on each side, so if it was removed that would leave holes right? Or is it screwed onto a clamp?

Welcome!

I like the mazdaspeed spoiler. I think it's under $600 right now at Rosenthal Mazda: www.finishlineperformance.com

That's a pretty good deal.

I hope you continue to enjoy the car.

My car is automatic (I know most of you now hate me)... but I read its good to redline the car once in a while to clear up carbon build up. I take it this should be done for the AT cars, so should I shift it into manual mode and redline it or will neutral work fine from a parking position.

Manual mode and redline it under load - more fun than revving in neutral while sitting idle.

Would taking off the wind deflector leave holes in the top of the car or is it clamped onto a bracket?

No holes. It' clamped on , depending on how long it has been on there you might have color difference . A good wax , buff job should take care of that ........

It might leave some scratches on your roof too, mine did. Not deep or anything but noticeable if you look. Just another reason to get rid of it.
