I'm wondering if the guy tried to file an insurance claim. If he did, it probably got denied. If so, that is an expensive damn lesson!

IF I recall the discussion about this he'd bought some aftermarket lug nuts from a vendor who assured him they were correct for the car. He apparently installed them, they threaded on and torqued to spec but as soon as they were side loaded they stripped off because they were actually incorrect for the application.

wow that sucks!

so what happened? just an expensive loss?
