uhhh ohhh......

But anyways i let my RPM go to almost 8k and dropped into 2nd and didnt make the shift flush and felt the whole **** like bog down some. I think i might have messed something up.

My question is how can i tell if my clutch is fixin to go out or whatever else can break in spite of raggin it. The guy who had it before me i know ran it hard but i think tonight i accerated the new clutch process. Thanks guys.

put this here just cause its a cool symbol

mod edit: thats a good question, searching will yeild better results. street racing is a no-no

Delete/edit the post and just ask about the clutch. Street racing posts can and WILL get you banned in this forum...

V8 mustangs really arent that quick, but its alot harder to get a good 0-60 out of an rx8 verus a mustang. as for the clutch, drag racing is terrible for it so if you find yourself in these situations quite a bit, then its probably not in very good condition anymore.

street racing is dangerous, especially for fellow drivers.
and plus, dont talk about street racing on forum, another member already said it, it can get u banned... if u wanna ask about the clutch, just ask about the clutch.
but as far as i know, if it starts to feel like its slipping, then it may be time to change it

If you don't know how to tell if you have a bad clutch you shouldn't have bought a manual transmission.

Go to automotive class. You just might learn where your radiator and battery are located. Not to mention the fact you may just learn how they work

You'll be able to tell if clutch is slipping if you press on the gas and the rpm needle rises quickly a little before it falls back in its regular sweep. Another indicator is you'll start noticing it's harder and harder to find the catch-point when letting out the clutch.

As to everyone getting on your case, it's mostly cause you didn't search, which is good internet etiquette. This question has been asked probably fifteen thousand times on this forum. Also, posting about street racing is a no-no that is in the forum rules (which every member is supposed to read before posting).

Personally I think anyone who objects to drag racing from a stop light (within reason, not up to like 120 or anything) is a weenie. Sorry guys, but if you honestly don't ever get the urge to step on it when some wild-eyed soccer mom in a minivan pulls up beside you, you clearly don't have a soul. I don't make the rules- that's just how it is. Deal with it.

THANK YOU FOR THE POST!! THAT WAS WHAT I WAS LOOKIN FOR. And yes there are alot of hypocrites esp the ones bitchin about racing. You dont buy an Rx8 without slammin it every now and then. I even put that i dont race but wanted to pwn that stang. It must have been modded....thats all i can think of.

Dude you just like talkin ****? there was no other reason for that stupid *** post. Everyone on here knows that the rx8 isnt a "normal" car due to the engine and all that. im not some mechanic so stfu and quit talkin crap.

You at one point didnt know everything either and had to ask so stay off my threads

glad to see you need someone to agree with you to feel good about yourself. and a mustang will take you off the line if it's not modified. our car is not an off the line 1/4 mile car.

Namrag: about the **** bogging down:

It is normal. the whole engine/tranny shifts a little under hard acceleration since it is mounted on rubber bushings (so the vibrations won't get into the cabin as much, this is after all a street car) so they flex a little and since the shifter goes directly into the tranny, it moves as well. FWD and transaxle RWD cars don't exhibit this behaviour because their shift linkage (be it cables or rods as oposed to our direct shifter) absorves most of that movement.

As far as the clutch is concerned; a slipping clutch (the tach needle seems to "run away" slighly faster than your actual acceleration before settling back into it's expected range) is the only way to tell for sure if your clutch is going.
