Two questions...

First, how is the RX-8 as far as flooding goes nowadays? If I get the car, it's going to sit in the garage during the winter and be out during the summer, so I imagine I'll have quite a few cold starts and periods of non-use.

Secondly.... the electronic upgrades to the ECU (canzoomer and such)... are they available for people that aren't going to add a turbo? If I wanted to keep the car N/A and add that ECU upgrade, what is the net result for me? Less reliable? Worse gas mileage? Give me details please, all the threads I found were related to turbos

1. there is no problem with cold starting. it's turning OFF the car when it's cold that *might* cause issues.

2. ECU upgrades that give you more power generally just lean the AFR above 5,500 range. So the net result will be virtually the same as stock, unless you drive around in 1st gear around town..

As I recall, I used to rev the engine to clear it out and shut it off at 5000+ RPM.

Still the way to go?

Granted, my 8 is an '06. And I know that folks have had flooding issues.......but really........

But both me and my buddy with an '04 just get in the car and drive it. Never once have either of us experienced anything close to a stalled motor for any reason..

I'm not saying that it isn't a known issue. But after awhile, you'll just quit worrying about it. With the exception of adding a bit of oil when I think about it, I drive my 8 just like any other daily driver..........

thanx

I don't have much faith in the rev method. Doesn't prevent me from doing it though
