They did a great job on the car.

know about bad cervical discs. Mine got worse until I needed surgery.(from decades of carrying heavy cameras and lens on straps around my neck) I don't wish that on you if not necessary. But my top docs did a great job and i am like new now.

Thanks G Williams.

Good thing is my confition improved and I feel back to normal. Except my neck is more sensitive at for example sleeping. Have to be carefull about using a pillow upin sleeping. Neck pain is more common if not carefull wereas before it was very rare.

If carefull it is fine.

But damage is there on MRI. Hope to stay fine. Good to know there is options if condition were to warrant extreme measures.

Had I been unattentive that hit would had whipped my body like a limp hose. Thank God I was able to see it before it hit.

👍

Love RX-8 stories with happy endings! We don't read many here, 'cause satisfied owners have little reason to find their way to this forum just to say "all is well".

Cool.

Got some good things going on.

Got new tires (245-40-18).

Got the "Spare Tire Kit" Which consists of all brackets
and needed parts to install this wheel in its place inside
trunk. Wheel included. No tire included. Will buy one this
weekend.

Also took my RX8 to the dealer because the clutch pedal broke off (recall issue)

You guys can read all about it at the appropriate thread. There is a
thread dedicated to the issue.

Also used the occasion to take care of the air bag recall. It has been
done so I am picking g up the car tomorrow. Air bags replaced.

For $100 dollars more got a radiator/cooling system flush. Good thing to do. It has been a while and for $100 bucks let's get it over with

Will get photos of the pedal work. Air bag photos won't say much.

Here a few photos of the Spare kit. At $250 brand new including shipping. I think
I got a deal Used ones were around that ballpark but shipping made it way more.

245-40-18. Stock wheels.

Bridgestone POTENZA Pole Position

Nice set up. Made to fit these wheels. After seeing these tires on these stock wheels I believe the stock size 225-45 was a stretched up size.

What can I say. Looks good

Yes, I got the spare tire kit with tire on my fully loaded 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX8. It takes up some trunk space, but it gives added piece of mind when traveling, as the spare tire goop in your tire kit wont do much good if you have a serious sidewall puncture. Nice that the spare tire wheel is an Enkei, they make good wheels.

Hi

Yes, peace of mind and savings is what a spare tire kit adds on.

I had a flat a couple years ago. Tried using that booger injection system but it would not work.

Tire was low but not flat, so I had to drive to a safe spot. Tried again with the booger thing to no avail.

Later on I was told the tire had a sidewall puncture, not repairable. Driving around like that did not add any hopes.

Nothing better than having a spare and saving your tire. I was told had I used the booger can price to fix the flat goes up substantially because the tire shop has to clean your tire and wheel, tire pressure monitoring device and all.

If you have a puncture, unable to use the booger can in a dangerous part of town or a desolated area, you are forced to drive away, bringing the hopes of a successful repair down to zero.

At about $200 + dollars a tire with installation... (and more if you are in a needy situation, away from your computer, checking Tire Rack, and comfortably waiting at home for delivery of a good priced tire) and much more, makes sense to carry a spare.

Added expenses. With no spare, after being told tire was a goner, I inquired about purchasing a Bridgestone Potenza. The small tire shop guy's eyes grew wider, he thought he won the lottery ! He told me this ":fancy" tires run for about $400 dollars. Ya right !

So I settled for some used tire, not a matching size, and it cost $70.00 installed. You are a cornered cat at that moment, you have nowhere to go ! Put up with it and drove away. With a spare you can drive home. Purchase a Bridgestone from a honest business or online (away from sharks and vultures) and proceed accordingly. No spare just throws you into the pit with piranhas, hyenas, vultures and sharks !!!!

You are a lucky dude, you got it in your car. That is cool !!! Congratulations

I only wish. I bought two tires in the same way because of no spare. One had a sidewall puncture, non reparable, the other tire did not, but driving on it destroyed any hopes of a repair. Also, wheel damage is an added risk.

I was checking the tire comparison charts. Since my kit came w/o a tire I need get one. Compared the diameter size for the tires on car (245/40/18) and several available spare tires on market.

Purchased a Kuhmo 135/80/17 This tire has the same diameter as the 245/40/18

Did not want to have a smaller or taller tire, when used, idea is to have the same diameter.

Cool !!!

Did you order the spare tire kit from your local dealer or online? Also, why not try and find a kit used from a bone yard or hereon the forum. List price on those spare tire kits without tire is $357.95!!! You can get them wholesale for around $280 though... but still..lol.

I do agree with the piece of mind thing though. I just bought an 05 GT that has the spare tire kit and its identical to yours. Yellow Enkei and all. I plan on servicing the tire when the car comes back from the dealer. Piece of mind to know its clean and properly inflated and that the mounting hardware will allow the tire to come down easily if I were ever to need it.

Hi.

Tried getting the kit, the whole deal used from some other place or seller

Used off course, but in good shape. Thing is , I found a couple good prices. About $250 for it all. Tire included. But shipping costs are crazy !

Shipping alone goes for about $150 and more ! So a decent set for $250 bucks could end up costing $400 +. That is why I decided on getting a new one. I will end up paying about same for a new kit. All included, instead of a used one.

I have been searching for months. Nothing local. Everything was out of state.

Tried even getting a Mazda 6 or 3 sparewheel and tire. Cheaper. But no reference at all. Did not know if it would fit. Wheels were smaller too. 16 and 15 in.

I guess vendors have corp accounts and their shipping is cheap.

I am selling a set of Old Man EMU springs for a SUZUKI Samurai. My off road rig. I got a better suspension kit for larger tires.

It is in excellent shape. Most guys interested are east coast guys and shipping....I found out....cost about $250 bucks!!! Just shipping.

I do not recall paying $250 in shipping charges for a set of leaf springs and shocks !

So if any local guy wanted my suspension, he could get a great deal. A great $650 dollar suspension like new for $300 ( installed it and used it in town for 1 year. ) But if far away, not worth it. Might as well pay $650 for a new one than $550 for a used one.

Shipping could get crazy with big parts

Got the tire (135-80-17) installed on the wheel.

This weekend will install the kit and all in trunk.

BTW. Funny but my motorcycle KLR Kawasaki has a rear tire size 140-80-17. Yes. A motorcycle tire but perhaps it is about same size only flat (versus round surface/motorcycle tire )

Perhaps motorcycle tires have a different numbering / measurements.

At tire shop. This size (135-80-17) has same diameter as tires on car (245-40-18) Seen some spare wheels with 125-80-17 tires (as opposed to 135) . But that Spare size i(125-80-17) is smaller than the 135-80-18 Spare I have. The 245-40-18 tires on car (Bridgestone POTENZA Pole Position) I got are also same diameter as stock tires 225-45-18. (Difference is width. Not diameter between 225-45 and 245-40)

Would not want to drive with a Spare that is smaller by itself (in width) but also smaller in diameter. That would not be safe.

Changed both drive (ac) and alternator belts last week,

Pretty straight forward deal.

Yesterday I realized I had no a/c. It was hot here in So Cal so it was not fun Decided to go today to an a/c shop for what I thought would be a/c freeze fluid /gas.

Visited my friends at Rotary Reliability and Racing ( very cool guys) and had my a/c serviced next door with a shop that dealt in that.

When done, read the invoice......Belt replaced !

It was not the a/c, it was the belt !

It was broken, still stuck to the bottom.

Jeesh ! Drove it for a full day like this and did not notice a thing, except for no a/c.

Never heard any bang , and no lamps turned on in dashboard. I did not care look at engine bay before because I changed both belts and it was fine. I gave it for granted it was the a/c gas !

Took the piece of belt and my receipt to Autozone and got my money back. But I do not understand. Either I did something wrong, which I do not see (belt was fine, no weird noises at all, adjusted belts as required) or else the belt was defective.

Any comments ? Previous belts never broke. I changed them as preventive maintenance, the alternator one looked old, the drive belt was fine, but never changed them so I decided it was time for it.

Installed OHLINS Coil Over suspension.

Handles great. And city driving is a breeze. Feels as smooth as stock. Yet under cornering and pressure it holds firm. Best ever suspension I have gotten.
