#27
Epic replies !! What a Ricer, what a complete NOOB, jesus man he bought a car and put some bits from ebay on it lol this tread has satisfied me more than I though !
I would absolutely love to see some of your cars, I bet many have that awful red interior, and nothing more than some stickers .. I would be very impressed to learn more than a handful have charged their eights.
Dam I bet relegate myself back down to the Mazda 4 Forum, you boys are far to hardcore for my tight wet knickers.. Genuinely loved the feedback has made my days at work much better.
Cant believe im now a Ricers wet dream, what a compliment BOOM not ZOOM
Oh p.s. BigCajun, yes you have wasted some time, 1,828 hours wasted by the looks

mgestic,
To cover your points seriously and specifically, and why you are getting the reaction you are:
The OEM filter is actually the best. The only filters that flow more than the OEM filter also flow more junk into the engine. Engines have been lost due to sand ingestion. So at BEST, the filter you used is identical to OEM. If it's not, then you either restricted airflow OR you exposed your engine to damage. Neither is something to be proud of.
This is mostly taste. Lots of people agree to remove the cat (myself among them), though generally you get what you pay for. There are better sounding options.
Zero performance improvement, but it's a good filter. About as good as any other name brand, except Fram which is bad.
If you didn't go with OEM plugs, you probably lost power from this (vs oem plugs, though better than old plugs you had probably). Cables are cables though, nothing wrong with whatever you have. You appear to have ignored the ignition coils though, so you are still missing something rather important in ignition health.
Probably 3", unless you modified your rear bumper and bumper trim to make it fit. 3" is enough to fill and then melt your shrouds. 5" wouldn't ever fit through the shrouds.
Faster, more responsive, and smoother i bet is almost entirely due to replaced ignition. 30,000 miles on old coils, plugs, and wires is a ~30whp loss, even without misfires. Fresh ignition makes a radical difference. The decat contributes to the faster a bit, about 2% worth.
Yeah, it's impressive what proper maintenance will do for a sports car.
Actually, that doesn't "turn off" the warning lights. There are even easier methods to reset the ECU like that, but it doesn't actually turn them off. If you hook up an OBD2 reader right after that, you will see that not only are the systems 'not ready' (meaning OBD2 emissions wouldn't pass), but you will probably still have the CEL codes as pending, just waiting to be active again. The only way to actually 'turn them off', is to use a reflashing method to disable the ECU's ability to even check for the errors.
Most of us agree with you. The factory method listed in your owner's manual is what you are referring to here, and is indeed the best method.
Having failing ignition is probably one of the biggest reasons for your mileage. Yesterday I did 313 miles on 13.8 gallons (100% highway, 10hrs of driving, multiple fillups). Not economy car mileage, but hardly "terrible". If you can't get this mileage with 100% highway, you have something unhealthy with your car.
So yeah, the reaction is mostly because you aren't giving us anything new, but acting like it is just shows that you haven't actually been doing much reading, and still don't really understand the car.
Every single one of these points is covered in the new owner's thread.

WARNING LIGHTS – you can turn these off when you want to buy following a guide posted on How to Reset the Dash Lights in an Mazda Rx8 (5 Steps) | eHow e.g. when you sell the car ! lol or in front of other car ******* who will criticise you not spending £400 on engine management tool.

I love it !! mention a few ways to improve the same car everyone owns, I get called a noob and a brit.. yes I am a noob, yes I spent hours reading the forum with only a bit of actual help, my advice works, you can mock it but de floods car every time, no need to **** about with fuses that's a load of ****! so you lot are wrong there. and the cheap *** mods I did to the car made it 30% better than before.. so if you don't have money to get turbo kit or japspeed full system this is a good option for other new car enthusiasts. I aint paying £5k on a Greddy kit! to produce 330bhp haha ya bunch of carpet munchers.. all having a pop at some noob virgin called Sally!! you bastards.. I have no friends, I just wanted to fit in ! I thought that was what you guys wanted!! I cant believe it ! I cant even sell my body for sex on craigs list, now the rx8 forum I love wont even like my comments.. I was loyal to you people, I would have done anything for you! I even send pictures of my open **** hole to Vlaze!!! and he has audacity to mock me.

It's not a lack or morals that is the issue.
The issue's lie when new members appear to bestow their "wealth of knowledge" with the forum. Instead of reading what has already been posted and proven. Many of the things the OP has done to his car will in fact HARM it not help.
The sarcasm in most replies is due to the fact that this has been repeated several times and 90% of the time if someone would have read the "new and potential owners thread" posted in my SIG, an RX8 could be saved.
Bad information kills rotaries.

Excuse my blatancy. I understand. I just didn't want to lose a fellow member due to the sarcasm but I guess I understand why it was the way it was. I'm sorry if I pissed anyone off and I don't mean to from the bottom of my heart. I was just trying to shed light on the situation from my point of view. Excuse me if it was a bit distorted. Feel free to come at me with the jokes. I'm sure they are soon to arrive... Just refrain from calling the man stupid because of his thermo. Who knows. It could be possible that just that little bit made a difference for him. We all know how quirky the rx-8 can be for some people. Anything is possible.

Since I'm singled out, you obviously haven't read many of my posts.
When I first joined this forum, I was ignorant of many things about the RX8, but I've asked many questions and learned quite a bit.
While I've never claimed to be an expert, many of my posts have been in an effort to help people with problems, I would hardly classify that as wasted.
When I have been wrong while trying to help someone and have been corrected, I've appreciated being given the right information.
Ignorance isn't bad in of itself, presuming to know something and then crowing about it is.
