Hello Club!

I am about ready to sign the line on a 2006 rx8 gt 6spman. The only thing in the back of my mind is, does a wakeboard, fit anywhere in the car?? it is 55inches(139cm) long and at most 18 inches wide. Do we have anywakeboarders on here? Can you fit your wakeboard in your car? I have really only had to have my wakeboard in my car a few times year, but if I didnt have to take the SUV to meet up with someone, thatd be awesome!!

i use to wakeboard, not since ive gotten my rx8 though, but i dont see why it wouldn't fit, wakeboards aren't all that large.

I don't wakeboard but I skate and it seems as though a board could fit in the trunk but to be honest someone will have to measure to be sure.

Only one way to make sure, why not just take your wakeboard to the dealership and try to fit it in there? They won't mind if it means a sale. It might fit in the trunk if you pull out the center console that connects the rear seats to the trunks and feed it through there. 18" means it might just barely fit through there.

Thank you all for the quick responses, I guess I'll have to bring my board along next time. But please feel free to continue the thread if you have measured, or if you have a wakeboard and it does or does not fit.

I'm not sure if it could fit, I would imagine so if you fold down the seat and set it in on it's edge. I'm pretty sure my snowboard would fit in the back, though I'm in texas right now.

Gee, can't think of a better reason to buy or not to buy a car. Buy a minivan, with woody sides, would fit you much better I think.

Oh I plan on getting it, just curious. Do the back seats come out? I know the V support is back there, but if they cam out, that;d give me the room I need.

The back seats are fixed, and don't 'come out', nor do they flip down. However, you get this little pass-through.

damn, I havn't noticed that the back seats don't come down....I guess that's more of a reason to buy a beater car for the winter!

Almost ALL. The RX-8 Back seats don't fold down to help with structural integrity due to the wide opening of the front and rear doors area.

However, even if some do have seats that fold-down, sometimes it's an OPTION, even if the car's structural integrity doesn't depend on the rear-seats holding down a support or two.

There is no reason that even the middle portion of one of the back seats couldnt fold forward.

I'm sure it was for costcutting reasons.

wakebaording u can actualy do kick *** tricks (double back flips and what not), surfing ur up for like a minute at max, wakeboarding u can be up for hours if u realy wanted to. and finally wakebaording ur being pulled by a boat and i believe a wakeboard is heaving than a surfboard?

What are you talking about son? You have the general idea, but you'd be lucky to find a wave you could surf for more than 30 seconds, and second, most people's arms would give out long before an hour with even moderate riding on a wakeboard.

I don't know what "heaving" is supposed to mean. Are you trying to say a wakeboard is heavier than a surfboard?

And hyperlitenerd, can you please resize your pictures smaller than 2500 px wide? It ***** up the whole page.

Edit: hyperlite, thanks man =) I'm more of a kneeboarding and slalom skiing fan myself, but I've always been interested in wakeboarding, just never had the opportunity.

Wakeboard will beat you silly, it is alot of fun though!! The most I can really ride is about an hour, and that is in perfectly smooth water. Any chop at all and it wears you out 10x as fast. A wakeboard is much lighter than a surfboard, with wet bindings... you might be getting to about the same. But the new thing is wakesurfing, you can get a surfboard if you want, or a skim board type boat like I have, and weight the back of the boat, and you can get up and surf for as long as you have gas in the boat. It is alot of fun, much lower impact than wakeboarding.

Are there any bindings involved when "wakesurfing", or are you just getting up and holding yourself steady? How can you flip otherwise? Lower impact I can see, but it's gotta be tough to do anything but zip back and forth.

I have been able to get up on two feet on a 3-footlong kneeboard. That took me an entire summer to accomplish, and all I was able to do was hang on for dear life in some chop. Still made me feel like Superman though.
