Thinking about buying an rx8

Hey guys, so i'm in the market to buy my next car, and one of the cars i was thinking about getting is an rx8. I have about 16k to spend and some of the cars i was thinking of were q cobalt ss/tc, dodge srt4, or like a g35 or genesis coupe if i can find one for a good price. I do absolutely love the way the rx8 looks and sounds, and im IN LOVE with the interior cause i sat in one the other day and omg...amazing haha, but the things that are kinda making me hesitant... is the amount of power it has for the mpg it gets, also i heard that they burn oil pretty quick.
I just have some questions that i was wondering if you guys could answer.

1. How often do you guys gas up?
2. How often do you guys change your oil?
3. How long do the engine last? (im asking because i saw an rx8 on autotrader that replaced the engine at 80,000 miles)
4. What are the tuning options for it? Are there some good power gains out of specific mods? like for example i know for the cobalt ss, after a tune and catless downpipe, it's already pushing over 300hp to the wheels from its stock 260hp at the crank.
5. How well do they handle? is it comparable to an s2k? My friend has one so thats why i ask =)

Thanks for any help guys, i hope i get the answers im looking for cause it would be really cool to get one =)

1: a lot. Like 18-22 mpg for me.
2: every 3000 miles like everyone else.
3: calling how long an engine is good for is like calling a dice roll. Who knows. It depends on the driver, conditions, and maintaince. Some blow at like 30k some last 100k.
4: I don't know about cobalts but if a stock car gained 50+ hp from a tune and pipe the driver is smoking from a pipe or the tune was amazing. The Rx8 will net 20hp from na mods after thousands of dollars. FI is cheaper.
5: it handles extremely well. one of the best handling cars out there is the rx8. But when it comes down to it the driver makes the car.

3. How long do the engine last? (im asking because i saw an rx8 on autotrader that replaced the engine at 80,000 miles) Because of a engine management update it should last longer than the original 60k life of 2004s with old computer management updates
4. What are the tuning options for it? This is not a straight line car if you value reliability tradeoffs and I've come to that realization
5. How well do they handle? is it comparable to an s2k? My friend has one so thats why i ask =) One of the best attributes of this car is the feel of the car, how it reacts to the driver, and the telepathic handling
Car is sexy, great interior, awesome engine and sound, adequate power, and good space for a sports car. Love it despite it's faults but it's not for everyone!

How about you start where I have pulled all these common questions together, along with their answers: New and potential owners start here

#5 is entirely subjective. For a purist, for a stock vs stock track toy, the s2000 will be able to beat an RX-8 through a road course. Same power, better weight, sharper handling. However, the S2000 doesn't lend itself to building driver confidence, and when you step over the line, it bites you. Hard. The RX-8 is far more forgiving, so it builds better confidence, and a normal driver will be able to drive an RX-8 closer to the edge comfortably than they will an S2000. Again, it's a subjective statement.

About 18-22 MPG
Cobb AccessPort Custom, midPipe

Before you buy a "USED" RX8 always run a compression test first!
Depends on how you treat it. Use 5w-30. Mine lasted over 190K

Also, heard somewhere a few years back out of the top 5 cars the RX8 had the best steering. Beat the Nissan skyline and the other big one I can't think of that's like 90,000

Day in and day out you continue to be nice to the newbs
All the work you've done, the epic thread and none of them care.

I applaud you

I'd be lying if I said that it didn't frustrate and disgust me. But all that really does it change the tone of my responses. There almost always seems to be at least 1 other newbie that is using whatever thread at the same time, and even if I don't get through to the OP, just maybe I can to the one watching.

Adding to the clutter hurts us as well as them.

1. It depends.
2. It depends.
3. It depends.
4. Keep it stock.
5. No one compares to an rx8.
