Interesting to hear you guys fill up every 2k maybe mazda uk are very cautious....typical brits eh!

spoke to some rx8 owners earlier and said they checked oil every 2k and nto the 500 miles i was advised

For me, I've resolved to check it as often as I can. And when I see that it has dropped below half way on the high and low mark on the dip stick, I put in a half a quart.

Cool Oil....

Yes, check at least every 500, but it really doesn't use much - when mine was new it was a touch overfull, so I didn't add a drop for 3000 miles, I was waiting for it to get to the 'low' mark on the dipstick, so I could see how much it took to fill....
It never reached it, it went in for an oil change. (And came back a little 'overfull' again!)
