Temperature light comming on

Hi,

My RX8 has about 155,000 miles. I have had the problem where the temperature light comes on, and stays on for a second then goes off. I checked the coolant and it is full. Anyone had this problem?

It's not a temp light, its a "low coolant" light. It's a very common problem, a quick search will give you the answers you need.

I searched all over, inside, and under the car and can not find a thing. This search thing is proving useless.

It's your coolant sensor float...

read the thread he linked. It is a common issue with the sensor.

You can:

1. replace the bottle
2. unplug the sensor (and make sure to check your coolant regularly)
3. learn to live with the light

The fourth option is to clean the bottle but that has had mixed results at best.

Those parts showing in that link look like they are sensors... but the problem is with the float which cannot be replaced without the whole overflow bottle.
I (like many other owners) had to replace the complete bottle (which includes the non-removable float) to get rid of the problem.
The bottle costs about $120 and is easy to replace yourself - or as laythor said, you can unplug the connector and just make sure you check the coolant level regularly.

That's normal to the 8. Mine does it when the speed reaches 60 and over. It goes away when it goes down to 60 or less.

Search the forum... At the top of the page, under the RX-8club banner is a bar with various links... one of them is a search button with a drop down menu. You can either search straight from the search box there or click on advanced search to get more specific results.

TX

Mine is now staying on all the time. Checked coolant and all is well.
06 with about 43K miles. I always thought it was a time to eat light.
Looks like a hamburger to me so I figured it came on after driving a bit to remind
me to stop to eat at Mickeys.

Will take it to the dealer to see what they say.

Thanks to those that responded with the helpful links/info.

Those search police are useless but get their post score way up there. guess most of their posts are the same, useless.

How smart can they be, thinking they are going to change those of
us that WILL NEVER search.

After four years, I was lucky to get to 500 posts. 1000? Naw, it will take me forever. Hey, I also do not have a life but at least I spend my computer time on something worthwhile (**** and gambling) instead of just posting SEARCH

PS, Do you really think we are that dumb? I just belong to the BLMF
Brotherhood of the Lazy Mother's Fu..............
