If you want to get the most out of your subs you have to choose the subs first, then get a custom made box for them. Different subs need different dimensions of boxes. I have seen people with some decent subs that barely hit or sound like crap because of a bad box choice. You could go by that boxes dimensions and choose your subs based on them, that would probably work also but give you less options.
After you get that taken care of you need to choose a good mono amp for them. The biggest thing you need to know about amps or subs is dont pay attention to max power at all, the number you need to look at is RMS. Say you have 2 svc 4 ohm subs that are 200w rms each you would want a 2 ohm mono amp with 1 channel and then wire them to it in parallel to make the subs a 2 ohm load also. I'm only saying this because I assume you don't know since your asking about brands and for help in the last thread, sorry if you already do. http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...4-ohm_mono.jpg Also check http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5mYUY3Y...rs_wiring.html for wiring help, if you will be installing them.
It is a lot more complicated than just picking some amp and some subs and tossing them together. Other than what I already said, the way I always do it is if I have the need of say 400w rms for my subs I try and get a 500-600w amp so I can run it on 3/4 of its full power so the amp stays cool and lasts longer. Also theres pretty much zero chance for clipping, which will pop your speakers and maybe even your amp.
I know you asked for good brands, I always liked my rockford subs they worked great. I have also had a rockford amp but it was old, seen a few of the new ones and they are pretty nice.
Just stick to bigger names like rockford, alpine, kicker, JL audio. I have never heard any complaints about those brands personally. My buddy had a JL Audio 10W7 and it was actually hard to breathe in his car when he had it all the way up, but they are kind of pricey. :P
This is the same dude that's opened up a new thread to nearly every single question already answered a hundred times over!!
Do us (and yourself, as far as the flaming will go) all a favor and make your own decisions! I (and I'm sure many here) appreciate helping others. But, DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!!
this is quite literally the most basic question i have ever read in my life. if your going to ask something like this, you might as well go to a shop, hand them $1500 and tell them to set you up with a nice system. because IMO is will cost around that for something good. because chances are you have no idea how to properly wire a car let alone wire the amp/subs and then tune the amplifier.
as far as what nice audio equipment is, as previously said, JL is a respectable brand, its not as loud (SPL) as other brands, but it does set standards as far as sound quality goes. RE makes great subwoofers, Focal makes amazing stuff, higher models of the everyday companys arent bad either : alpine-type X, Kicker-solo baric L7, RF-power series. i have been experimenting with audio pipe and so far im really liking them. anyways, if i were to give advise, i would say stay away from anything you can pick up from bestbuy. but its your money so your call. at the stage your at, join the crutchfield forum and read amongst the posts there, probably on of the most informative forums on the web as far as audio goes.

I have a feeling all of this blowharding is going to go right out the window. This dude is going to wind up with some Pyle tweeters, Boss subwoofers, Pyramid amplifier, and Road Gear mids, with the wires ran between the fender and hood, and wedged between the door and rocker panel, and there's nothing we can do to stop it.

hahaha, no man it will be a sick system, his amp will be putting out 2000 WATTS MAX DUDE! and than his 1300 watt max sub will actually be wired wrong so the amp sees an 8 ohm load but hey that sounds right because 8 is higher than 2 ohms, so now he is recieving 120 watts rms and its clipping like hell but it doesnt matter BECAUSE ITS THE RAWEST SYSTEM IN THE WORLD AND SOUNDS SICK!!! SICK MAN ITS SICK!!
lol ok sorry got carried away, to the OP. i can answer for anybody and say that anybody who knows a good deal on audio (wiring, ohm loads, polarity, rms, good vs bad, how to tune a ported enclosure, understanding all the crazy ***** on an amp, knowing what all the paramatters of a subwoofer mean) we have ALL done a good deal of research, trial and error, more research, etc. so right now you are in the diaper stage and we dont breast feed here. once you have a general jist of what you want to put in your car then you can come and ask more specific questions. but for now, spend some time over at crutchfield.
