stupid sap

anything I should know about clay bars before using it on my 8? I figure you just use the thing and then rewax over the area.

I got some sticky crap on the back of my car today I noticed while washing & waxing. It couldn't have been there more than a week (I hope). Anyway, I plan on getting this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002U2V1Y from autozone or wherever and taking care of it. I hope I can get it all off.

Be gentle around body creases you WILL take paint off if you are too aggressive and not lubed enough.

Also, I'd not really go first for claybar for "sticky stuff" (likely tree sap?) I'd get some goo-gone (goof-off another brand) to get off the sticky. Claybar should be used to get industrial fallout or paint overspray off (if you rub your hand over your CLEAN paint and it feels rough clay away). You will foul the bar using it on "sticky".

After any of this reapply wax!

I got it off. I used a spray can bug n tar remover and scrubbed the hell out of it. Then I washed it off with water and re-waxed it. I bought the clay bar too but I'm saving it for the next time I wax.

FWIW it is better to use rubbing alcohol on tree sap then anything else. Rubbing alcohol will not harm your paint but will remove your protectants (wax/polish) so be sure to re-apply your wax of choice after you've removed the sap.
