stock brake upgrade??
Just been thinking ahead to when i have to do my front brakes on my 06` that i just purchased. Was wondering if anyone has tried to adopt the Brembo brakes from the R3 package to a non R3 car.Is it just a matter of swapping rotors, calipers and caliper mounting bracket?Any help would be much appreciated.

The most important part would be to get the mounting brackets to be mounted correctly and everything else should fall into place.
If they don't fit, getting them to fit would be too much hassle you are better off buying a BBK unless you already had a set on your hands.
Curious to know if it works, keep us posted.

A change of brake pads should be sufficient for track days, maybe upgrade to steel brake lines first

As amazing as the stock brakes are, what's the need for Brembros? Hell, the stock ones stop better than most sports cars that cost 2-4 times more. Seems like throwing money away!

Everytime I ask Topgear about how he likes the upgrade he is never looking back.
I use them as well, but I am just a ricer at the end of the day and I do it because I can.

hat about people with the smaller stock brakes? I have an 06 auto trans base model with stock 16s currently. I heard my brakes aren't as good as the the ones that come with the 18s.

Smaller stock brakes are imo sufficient for normal driving on the streets. , your tires plays a major role in stopping distance. I would like to think of brakes upgrade as a way of reducing brake fade and not braking distance, not entirely accurate but yeah...

Yes,you would be quite correct on that.My mistake. They only got improved Bilstien shocks.
I certainly am not knocking the effectiveness of the stock braking system either.I just thought that if there was a cheaper way of upgrading the system on these than buying a kit,it might be an option. I`ve only owned my car for 2 weeks so i`m a little new.I guess i`ll just end up buying a set of blank rotors and slot them at work, and pick up a S.S. braided hose kit later.I already have a Technafit hose kit on my non daily driver car.
