Spring noise/vibration while cruising

I've recently noticed what sounds like a spring decompressing, or a metallic vibration. It happens only when I am at about 1/4 throttle, accelerate to about 3k-3.5k rpm, and then gently let of a little to maintain a cruising speed.

It also kind of sounds like a cell phone on vibrate mode, but with a bit of a metalic sound. It only lasts for about 1 second. And, it only happens right as I let off the accelerator a little to maintain speed.

btw, this sound seems to come from under the car, or near the tranny. It only happens when the car has been at or near norm. operating temp. for a very short time (not competely warmed up).

Anyone else notice this?

I wonder if that would explain the CEL I just got yesterday?

I had been on the interstate, cruising between 75-90 mph for about 2hrs. I stopped to take a **** at left the car idling for maybe 2mins. Came out, accelerated up to about 6.5k rpm as I was merging, and the CEL popped up, and stayed on for the rest of my trip (about another 1.5 hrs, and after turning the car off and restarting it twice).

Could there be a leak? Supercat going bad already w/ maybe 3k. mi.?

will do as soon as I get home. Nothing seems to have changed with the CEL (drives, smells, feels and sounds the same).

Would you recommend driving 3+hrs. with this CEL?

Is it free of charge to have a dealer pull the code? I'm still under waranty.

As long as you don't have any MODS that will affect the ECU..ie IntX or E-manage.....the dealer should do the diagnostic for free.....

You COULD clear the codes....and see if it comes back. If it doesn't it probably wasn't anything to serious. If it comes back right away I would get the code checked before I drove that far

No ECU mods for me. How can you clear the code? Disco. battery and turn steering wheel all the way left, then right? Do I need to press the brake pedal x amount of times?

Is a dealer the only place to pull the code? I think Advance Auto will do it? I don't have a personal scanner tool.
