Spoiler and Fender Strake installation

hey 8ter's,

looking into getting a factory spoiler and the fender streaks for my car. these 2 damn things cost enough as it is, and i'm wondering how hard it would be for someone who sucks with car stuff to install these two things myself? any guidance would be awesome!!!

also, anyone know how to get a damn pic small enough to fit on this thing???

I don't know about the fender strakes, but the spoiler is something you want to get exactly right. If the holes are a bit out of line, well let's just say people will look at your car funny.

I installed my own spoiler. Need to drill a total of 6 holes - 3 on each side. Mazda provides paper templates for locating the holes. Just use extra care in taping the templates onto your trunk lid. After the drilling, two bolts each side hold the wing on. (the third hole is for a locating tab on the wing). If drilling into your baby makes you nervous, then you might want to get the dealer or someone else to do it - especially if you "suck with car stuff". An experienced person should be able to do the job in about an hour.

If u suck at mechanical things, don't mount the spoiler.

It will be crocked or even worse you make a hole that you can see

strake can be done easily, just check the diy section for installation...

If you don't feel you can do the spoiler, pay someone else to do it, or look into trade trunks with people who has spoiler but looking for stock, no spoiler trunk of the same color in for sale/trade section...

i got my spoiler put on at the mazda dealership for $60. well worth it for me since i know i would have messed it up doing it myself. the strakes, on the other hand, are mighty easy.
