Okay -- i recently took my baby to discount tire in fort worth to get my tires rotated and blanced. (Avon Tech M550s) And I finally got to go on a 200 mile road trip to see my family back home and on the road between fort worth and houston i got to "stretch the legs" of my car and was shocked that when I get to 99+ my car starts to vibrate very badly.

There is no noticable vibration at low speeds (thats why i havent noticed it for the past two weeks, city driving i stay below 45 all the time. Also keep in mind that BEFORE i had this rotation and balancing, the car didnt do this at ALL, I.E. i could take it far beyond 99mph and it was smooth as butter.

So to summarize when i hit REALLY high speeds, i get massive vibration. I havent hit any curbs/bumps/etc and the fact this started after having a rotation/balance done tells me its something to do with the tires and not any suspension stuff.

I'm going to call discount tire and try to make them look at it in a few days but in the meantime I would lov to get some input from you guys (and gals)

sound's like you need to have the tires balanced AGAIN.
Unless they left some lug nuts loose.

yep. sometimes wheel balancing can be tricky and bit of a pain. get it done again by a different shop.

^^ Good advice....check your lug nuts.....then get them re-balanced.

Check the tires as well...might have a defective tire ...although it should be a problem at all speeds if it's got a bump in it

Ive never had any problem like this and it struck me as odd that I would only notice this at really high speeds.

One time, I had my wheels balanced, and shortly thereafter the car started shaking. I went back, and we discovered that all the weights were gone. Turns out the guy that did it was new, and he used the wrong weights (wrong curvature).

They use lead weights to balance the wheel assembly. They are usually either stick on squares...or weights that attach to the edge of the rim beads with a little clip.

Both types can fall off if not installed properly

When I hit 88 mph in my car one time I ended up back in the 60's. Had to harness the energy from a lightening strike to get "back to the future".

If they did a static balance instead of spin balance that could be the problem. Also could have used wrong weights or they didn't put one on securely and you threw it off while driving. It is also possible that you have an alignment problem that caused uneven tire wear and when the tires were rotated it became noticeable at high speed. In the extreme, they could have tightened the lug nuts in a very uneven manner and warped the rotor but if that was the case you should feel when you brake.

I found you can use a hampster on steroids instead of a flux capacitor. The little guy can get 12000 rpm in brief bursts.

I notice my car sways a little on the highway when i've only driven a short distance, then stays perfectly straight after a little more time of the tires heating up.

On a more serious note, I called Auto Zone one time as a joke and I asked the guy if he had a Flux Capacitor for a 1985 Deloreon in stock. All I got in response was silence..........................
