Shipping large items

I know UPS and FedEX have freight shipping, but their prices are astronomical, anywhere from $3-800 cross country for a box the size of a bumper, 30x30x72. Does anybody know of a cheaper way to ship items? Otherwise I'm gonna have to give this guy his money back, nobody's gonna pay $300 to ship a bumper that costs the same amount.

That doesn't sound right. They should charge by weight not size right? Did you tell them it only weights XXX amount?

Usually, it's better to sell it locally. Shipping costs is sometimes more expensive than what your shipping. You could try this website Uship.com., they have shippers that will bid to ship your stuffs for cheap (if the buyers agree with the price of the shipping cost). Who knows, you might get it less than what you could afford. Anyway, where are you shipping it at?

That wouldn't work; their shipping charges on oversize boxs are based on the "Dimensional" weight (unless the actual weight exceeds the "Dimensional" weight). To the OP, try Greyhound.

You can ship through Greyhound, FedEx bases their charges on dimensions and weight. We ship wheels and tires everyday and they always ask for those figures.
