Shinka's are here

Mazda of Escondido in San Diego just got in TWO 2006 Shinka models. One in Whitewater Pearl, the other in Galaxy Gray. Each dealer is only scheduled 1-3 for the year. See me in the sales department if you want to check them out.

I'll take a few today and post tonight or tomorrow. I have no access to the forum at work. The interiors are awesome. Satellite radio standard now. Anyone in the san diego area come by and see them.

The one to three Shinkas applies to Copper Red, not the other colors available. The other ones are a "Shinka package" so not a full out Shinka in the sense of word since they aren't the "special limited edition" in the "exclusive color."

Copper Red Shinkas aren't due out until later in April or so.

Yeah, I find this a little confusing. Given that you don't get the cool color, what IS in the shinka package that you couldn't get otherwise?

^^^ Ditto. So now you can get any color you want with the "Shinka package" but it's still not a Shinka? And the real Shinka's are the copper red, right? Can you get that color without the "Shinka package?" I think Mazda is trying to confuse us all on purpose.

This year the "Shinka" package is available in either Whitewater pearl, copper red, black or Galaxy gray. It is still a limited production run between 2000 and 2500 total units from mazda. These cars come standard with the alcantara interior which is a leather and very high quality suede interior. (sort of a real light beige) They also come with a "satin" finish wheel and standard now with sirius satellite radio. To clarify, the copper red color is available as a normal color just like the rest of the shinka colors.

You're mistaken.

I just did a search through the inventory of my local Mazda dealerships, and there are two that both have 1 Copper Red Shinka RX-8 available as of right now. If I get some time after work today I might stop by just to take a look at the color.

shinka = NO NAVIGATION SYSTEM regardless which special edition color you pick.

?? I thought that only applies to the 05 Shinka, because in the Mazda page you can put in the NAV as an option in a 06 Shinka. Please correct me if I am wrong as I am going to trade my 05 WB in for a 06 CR Shinka with NAV and everything.

So then what was the mysterious, unspoken, exasperating reason that the 05 Shinka couldn't have a nav?

According to the online builder you can't have Shinka & Nav... Best guess - something about satellite radio & NAV together...

I like that car companies do this. Why not? Some people don't like the Copper Red. Now Mazda needs to get their heads on straight and make that damn sun roof OPTIONAL.

So, where are the pics?

I'm anxious as my shinka is on order and scheduled to arrive end of April.

That's what I was told last spring when the Shinkas were coming out.

unless they changed something at the last minute (and the mazda website "build it" doesn't suggest that they did), copper red is only available with the shinka package.

This is a perfect example of why you don't listen to dealers if you want to get correct info on a car...

i'm basing my information on Mazda's 2006 Spec Sheet. Most sales people that I've met in the auto industry will say just about anything to make a sale, even if its less than accurate.

disclaimer. not saying all, or even the majority, just most that i've met personally.

I went to Lancaster Mazda (PA) and saw one today. I don't care for the color but I would love to have the interior in my Winning Blue GT. The seats are leather trimmed with a really nice perferated cloth in the center seating area. I would loveto keep my *** dry on the seat.

Well if you would stop driving your 8 around long enough to finish potty training!...
