I own a 2004 Mazda RX8.

My problem is I got my car stuck in the mud by accident. While I was gone for help someone broke into it. We were able to start the car twice and drive it home (20miles). The security system went off the whole drive home but I managed to turn it off before I shut the engine down. Two days later I started the car and moved it to the garage. This time I forgot to shut off the security system before shutting down the engine. The horn would not go off so I unhooked the battery cables. The car would not restart after that.

In the owners manual it says to have car taken to dealership to have security system reset because the car will not run otherwise. I called a towtruck and he put the battery cables back on and managed to turn off horn by using the key but the car still would not start.

The dealership said that they had never heard of this before and that I blew the engine by overreving it and I just needed to buy a new motor. It is still under warranty.

WHAT DO I DO NOW.......the car was fine untill the system was activated!!!

Jeez you drove the car 20 miles with the horn going off? I would have driven the damn thing off a cliff after maybe 3minutes of that crap.

How could you blow the engine by overrevving it if all you did was unplug the battery... And if they've never heard of it before how are they so sure you blew your engine? Sounds like there is a simple fix to it besides replacing the whole engine. So would they pay for the engine?

How can you over rev a car with a rev limiter? Sounds like dealer BS to me. I was thinking you flooded it during all the commotion, but the dealer probably wouldn't have said new engine if that were the case. Good luck.

I did not know it had a rev limiter. Has anyone ever had problems with the security system?

they said the warrenty was void because I got it stuck. (Not mentioned in the warrenty manual) Said I must buy a new motor. $6,000

Ahahahaha that sucks dude. I think you flooded it too. I would tell them to go f**k a goat. Go to some other dealer get their opinion.

thats sucks man.....mazda will always try to do some **** to get out of doing work.... what area do you live in that, someone would come and break into a car thats stuck in mud??? did they even take anything?

That was due to my "**** leakage" for going wot!

I was just playing with ya Its just that your first post was not like an intro; "this is my prob what do you guys think I should do?". It was more like call 911!
I would call ALL of your local Mazda dealers and see what they say or if they can help you at all. In the end you should call Mazda Of North America. That will get them going.

Err... That usually tends to be the case, batteries are kinda essential for the car to run.

Have you been living under a rock? Have you ever red-lined tha car? What the hell do you think happens at 9k, a magic fairy flies up the tailpipe anc cuts the fuel?

Jesus, go read the f'kin manual, then learn how to drive so you don't end up "in mud, by accident", then go back to the dealer and tell him to go eat cack.

calm down. There's no reason to be insulting, you could have pointed all that out politely instead of being a jerk about it.

Do ANY OF THE MAZDA DEALERS in the USA have a compression tester ? .......jesus.......

Tell them to test the compression......if it's blown, then it's blown, and you'll take it from there....but my guess is you have either flooded the engine, or caused some minor damage to the electrical system and/or battery. In both cases it's an easy fix (not very cheap, but easy).

Last scenario is that you have *somehow* locked the immobilizer into "stolen" mode. I have never heard of something like that, but a decent dealer should be able to diagnose it in 20 seconds, not to mention that if you can prove that you are the legal owner of the car they should be able to get it started in even fewer seconds Very well-known case with the immobilizers in AUDIs/VWs....

If your dealer cannot do ANY of the above, then I wouldn't go near their establishment EVER......

Unless there is more to the story than you are telling, you're dealing w/a BS dealership. But I'm guessing there's more to tell. Such as: what/where were you? what exactly do you mean "stuck in the mud" - high enough to fry electrical? did you rev the hell out of it trying to get unstuck?

I agree w/Valpac - smells fishy. And I don't think it's Dom.
