Searching and Rotarygod are awesome
Just like the many others, I flooded my car earlier this week. I didn't know if it was flooded or not, but after I searched around a bit I figured that's what it was. I kept finding threads about deflooding, but it wasn't totally clear on how the procedure was done, so after many many tries it didn't work. I finally found a thread where Rotarygod says pull-starting the car Always gets a flooded car started. Well after many attempts on just push-starting it, I finally talk someone into towing me, so I can try a pull-start. First time down the road and the car started up right away ... it was sputtering at first, but that all cleared up after a few seconds.
So for everyone else that gets flooded, don't get it towed. Just find someone to pull-start you.

Please give details on your pull start method - what gear were you in when the pull started, what gear when igniton key was turned? How long before you tried to start it? Speed? any details good!

2nd gear is preferred. You don't need to get moving very fast. It might only be a couple of miles an hour or so for just a second or it might be 15 mph for a few blocks. Get the car moving before you let out the clutch. Don't just try to get moving with the car in gear and the engine turning. Just ease off the clutch and let it spin. Usually it'll start right up but sometimes it takes a few seconds. You may or may not need to give it some gas pedal. I have even started up engines with a broken apex seal this way! You just need to get them moving faster.

I was going maybe about 15-20 miles an hour... Keys were in the ignition in the "on" position, and I was in neutral till we got up to speed then I put it in 2nd gear, obviously with the clutch down. I slowly let off the clutch so the car wouldn't jump. The whole time I had my friend who was towing me on the phone so he knew what I was doing.
When I let off the clutch it jerked a little, but I couldn't tell if the car was on or not, so I put it neutral and tried to rev it. Sure enough, the car was on, and it was sputtering like a son of a bitch. But after a couple of seconds it all cleared up.

You know.. that was the very first thing we tried since I was on a small incline. It didn't work, I guess cause the incline wasn't steep enough.

I believe this (pull start) can work, and it definetly works as some members of this forum have achieved successful results.
Now my point here is: I read in the owners manual (Euro version) that you should never do a pull start. The manual does not say why.
I imagine that that could be related to cat issues (pretrol afterburning inside the cat once you get the engine started). Does anyone know the real reason behing that Mazda Warning?

^ not 100% sure, but I'd wager it's an "Idiot Note", since it can be dangerous if done by an idiot.
The manual also states in several places that the engine should not be shut off while driving, and you should never adjust the seat while driving.
Kind of like the "no turn" signs on highway on ramps.

The owners manual pretty much states to use only genuine Mazda parts and have only trained Mazda service centers work on your car. That pretty much rules out using any aftermarket products of any kind including intakes, exhausts, etc. We all know everyone obeys those rules too!
