My friend said that Jesse Jackson arm-wrestled the moon, and then a praying mantis read the War and Peace e-book on a Dell laptop.

I've been hearing that Nacho Vidal is gay and only bangs impossibly beautiful European women because he knows men will be watching the videos.

I've heard people say that a trilobite can type 75 words per minute.

Others have said that grape jelly contains asbestos.

My thoughts are that you should stop listening to people and go decide for yourself.

Trix,

1. your friends are stupid
2. you need to learn to use the internet
3. You sound like you're 18 so i'm guessing a car that handles better then any of your friend's cars won't do it for you. You want something that you can buy 1000's of addons for less then 10 bucks and rice the crap out of it, am I right?
Buy a honda, keep your peers happy.. when you grow up, buy an 8.

You ain't being picked on.....

My point is that every question you could EVER ask is already here - check 'em out.

A dumb title like "are RX-8s good cars" is just begging for smart alec come-backs, as you found out.

Read, mark, learn and inwardly digest.....

Sure it did, and he also runs 13's with just a I/H/E setup, right? LOL, you may want to stop hanging out with lil ricers, they will just fill ur head with lies and ultimately get you shunned from the import scene.

If you do get a MT RX-8, you will be in a totally different league both in appearance and all around performance, so, you may want to "graduate" onto a more informed group of friends.(that or get the facts and educate them)

My thoughts:
I came from a 99 Grand Prix GTP with heavy engine mods. It was a low 13 sec car that was capable of mid 12's had I properly tuned it and slapped some slicks on it before I spun a rod bearing.

My 04 AT is slow. It's not painfully slow, especially at highway speeds, but it's a dog from a dig. It's not a car you're going to go drag racing in. However, it is fast enough for anyone on the street as far as getting around town is concerned. It's a blast when you have some nice corners to play with and is a real experience to drive every time you get behind the wheel

The 4 doors are easier to work with than the 4 doors in my GP. The only problem is you don't have room for **** in this car. I was used to being able to have a big stereo and haul a lot of stuff...not anymore. I was very surprised how comfortable the back seats are for passengers.

enjoy your 8, read a lot here and you'll understand what you have your hands on. You're not dealing with a street demon, but the 8 is definitely a driver's car.

Most people who bash rotaries have no idea what they're talking about (this appears true in your case). Drive one yourself, do some research and you'll understand this whole situation better. Hint: rotary engines are small, light, and tend to become unreliable in FI applications. Most people don't understand how they work, and since it's something they don't understand, it must suck. Stick around here, read, and take a few test drives to see what you think.

And your friend with the SI? He probably wasn't racing a turbo 8. Either the guy in the 8 didn't have a turbo, wasn't actually racing, or was a terrible driver. The SI is about on par with a stock 8, a turbo 8 would make the equation kind of lopsided. Maybe he meant that he beat a turbo 8 in the reliability department.
