RX8 vs Mustang V6 vs Maxima
hey guys i just wanted to know who would win in a straight line race , the mustang has less horses but alot more torque and the maxima has more of both but hevier, the mustang and maxima are autos and the rx8 is a 6speed

which maxima is it? 8 stand no chance vs the 2 previous gens, 1 of my friend ran a 14.1 stock on the last gen maxima. if its the current one thats super heavey then i think rx8 will win,

you should beat the stang easily if you can do the clutch drop, if you just start it normally it might be close, but advantage still to you.

I think saw a new Mustang on the Speed Channel run about a 14.6 I think. Guessing that was the V6 cuz the GT runs 13's. Probably just a hair quicker in the 1/4 mile but I'm sure it doesnt feel quicker.
EDIT: Just read up a little on the V6 Mustang times. Apparently they are running mid to high 15's so I don't know what I saw on Speed. Why would you care? Neither are made for straight line speed.

Tips for the new guy:
1) Street racing is highly frowned upon in this forum. Such discussions are prohibited.
2) The RX-8 is a poor straight-line performer - at a drag event you'd loose to just about anything. Such discussions are discouraged or at least mocked openly.
3) The RX-8 has been compared against everything from Alpha Romeos to Volvos again and again on this forum. The RX-8 vs. Mustang discussion goes on and on - search for relevant threads.
4) Bringing up subjects that have been discussed to death typically yields sarcasm and multiple caustic comments. It's better to find an existing thread which discussed the same old idea and add a new thought as a reply.

RX8=14.58 (Best I've heard of stock)
6th Gen. Maxima=14.9
V6 Stang=15.7
So yeah, you could probably beat the Maxima provided you made a perfect run, but who cares? It's a 4 door family sedan.
