Angry Rx8 Stalling

WAS DRIVING MY 04 IN LAS VEGAS YESTERDAY AND THE ENGINE HAD A PINGING SOUND WHEN I ACCELERATED OVER 5000 RPMS. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT BUT I DECIDED TO FILL IT WITH FUEL AND TEST IT. AFTER DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, THE ENGINE LOST POWER COMPLETELY WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF AND STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT. IT TOOK 2 TRIES TO RESTART BUT WOULD BARELY MOVE AT TAKE OFF. 2 LIGHTS LATER, IT DIED AGAIN. I CALLED THE MAZDA DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY'D NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE BUT I SUSPECT THATS NOT TRUE BECAUSE I HAVE 3 FRIENDS WITH 8'S THAT HAVE HAD STALLING ISSUES EVERY SUMMER SINCE 04. APPARENTLY MAZDA CAN NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY KEEP PUTTING BAND-AIDS ON THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF MAKING A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO REPAIR IT. I'M GOING TO TRADE IT IN SOON BECAUSE I DON'T SEE IT GETTING FIXED ANY TIME SOON. MAYBE
I'LL GET LUCKY AND THEY'LL BUY IT BACK FROM ME. ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS CONCERN PLEASE REPLY.-I HAVE A FEELING ANOTHER BAND AID IS COMING AND MAZDA WILL FORGET ABOUT IT WHEN THE TEMPERATURES DROP AGAIN.
OH WELL-PEACE OUT

You will not make many friends here by trashing Mazda and the RX8 as your first post.

who did you talk to at the Dealer? its quite possible that person never has heard of the issue. But someone at the dealership has if they havent turned over all the techs and service writers since last summer. maybe you just need to talk to the right person and take it in.

are you in an automatic?

Yes Its An Automatic. I Actually Talked To One Guy Who Asked Another Service Tech And He Said He'd Never Heard Of It Either. Maybe They're Not Allowed To Talk About It

there is only a choice of 2 things to do for you-

1.take your pcm out and send it to mazda plus change out your plugs etc

2.new engine

they will probably opt for 1 first since htis has helped a large percentage of the autos with issues in Vegas. But you could still end up with 2.

have you read the threads here about the Vegas automatic issues last year?

It's what happens when you make a post in all caps. For some reason it won't work for me - maybe I've got too many posts or something.
