um, i think peeling out has more to do with torque than horsepower. the auto has more torque than the 6mt.

peeling out depends more on tire and road condition than anything else. Not really a good estimate of power.

The only times I ever burned rubber with the automatic (I used to own) was by performing a neutral slam (putting the shifter into neutral, revving to 5000 - 6000 RPM, and then dropping the shifter into drive). And it wasn't even impressive anyway.

If your urge to make your automatic peel out is that high, you'll have to do it at the expense of your transmission. I really don't recommend it. If you care about peel outs and that type of **** so much, you either A) should have bought this car in stick, or B) should have bought a different automatic vehicle with lots of torque.

Probably not going to be able to, the traction control is just simply too damn good on the RX-8. Since getting the R flash, I've been able to consistently get my RX-8 to deliver a "kick" to the rear wheels doing a redline shift from 1st to 2nd (a pretty good sign IMO that the R flash does indeed deliver more power, this never happened prior to the R flash), similar feel that you get when popping the clutch on a redline 1-2 shift on a manual. But the tires never squeel, you just simply feel the kick...I'm guessing traction control's simply too good.

Go to pepboys and buy the cheapest all-season tire they offer. You'll peel out without issue.

Loss of traction is never a good thing. Think it is? Try doing jumping jacks on ice.

Keeping the family guy thing ...

While I have an MT, I drove an AT recently in California (Would you believe that Hertz at LAX has one? I rented my own car from Hertz (albeit with an automatic)! It was a base automatic car.

Anyway, I could easily burn rubber in that car if I brake-torqued it prior to take off ... and if you slipped the brakes slightly, you could set the rear wheels spinning and do a very healthy burnout if you modulated the brake pedal well.

Not that I did such an abusive thing to a rental car. Especially in the parking garage of a hotel. Heavens no!

if you just want to be able to sit at a stop light, punch the gas, and peel out.....good luck.

My dad is a vette fan, even in his 94 (360hp/345tq) at the wheels, when he punches it from a stop light, there is a quick chirp and the car shoots off.

the limiting factors are the tires, tq converter and gearing....set those up a certain way and youll be able to do it.......of course that means setting it up the exact opposite way you would if you wanted a good, well driving sports car.

Funny enough, I was thinking the same thing the other day. I'm just so used to dropping the clutch, always wondered if the auto RX8 could do it.
