Needs some clean up and better labeling. The long term trend is down, the short term trend is up, note the short term trend has taken hold for 2-3 months before. Best to wait another month or two and see if sales continue to rise before establishing a bona fide trend.

Yes, at this point it may just reflect bargains on unsold cars from last year.

The letters are the first letters of every two months: June - August - October - December - February - April - June ... etc
The 2nd digit in each pair is supposed to represent the year, but it's screwed up until October of '06. The whole of the graph runs from the middle of 2003 through the middle of 2008.

not really crazy at all, that's the time of year that the stealerships are trying like hell to get rid of their old inventory and that's when they give those HUGE off MSRP bargains. If you want a new car that's always the time to buy

7to8, what's the source of this graph? Apparently, this is just a projected increase for June and July of 2008 since hard numbers are obviously not available yet. Here's Mazda's actual numbers, which allow us to line up specific month's sales with the graph:
May 08: 309
April 08: 327
March 08: 333
Feb 08: 319
Jan 08: 260
Dec 07: 315
Nov 07: 314
Total 2007: 5,767
Total 2006: 9,343

I could have swore that the RX-8 Product Update DVD stated that there were around 180,000 RX-8's sold worldwide since its release. Japan (and surrounding areas) must be crawling with these. I dont recall ever hearing about large sales in any other part of the world. Anyone know?
