RX-8 Rotor and RX-7 Rotor

Hey, I was just wondering...are the dimensions of the rotor in the RX-8 the same as the RX-7? Also, I have looked and haven't found anything...but does anyone know where I can get a blueprint of the rotor itself for the 8?

The rotors themselves are the same physical size. There are some diferences with the seals though. The Renesis rotors have a cutoff seal in between the side seals and the oil control rings that the 13B's do not have. The shape and size of the seals is also different between rotors. Due to this fact the RX-8 rotor can be used in an RX-7 but not the other way around. You'll just have to trust me on that one. The casting thickness of the RX-8 rotors is also thinner than the 13B which makes them less strong but lighter. I'm not sure where you can get any dimensional drawings. I'll start digging.

Thank you very much rotarygod, I didn't really know the differences and would love if you could find the blueprints.

One thing I can tell you that hardly anyone knows is that the physical shape of the Renesis rotors is different than the 13B rotors. The housing shape is still the same though. The thing that counts is that the apex seals all line up in the same place and that the rotor never physically touches the housings. The shape isn't that much off and you can really only tell by holding them directly against each other. The Renesis rotors are less "rounded".

Chamber is also different?

I have an RX-7 magazine talking 3 different rotor from 13BT 13B -REW and 13B-MSP... I will dig that out too

I never knew that....thanks rotarygod! In all the demos of the renesis, it looked like the rotor DID touch the housing.

There is also a chamfer on the leading edges of the rotors on the Renisis motors, which was not found on any RX-7 13B motors
