I'd rather it be lower, but given the low power output that the motor makes in the lower rpms, you'd have virtually no acceleration in the highest gear.

The gear ratios are not going to change from one car to the next.

At first, it does seem quite odd to have the rpm's so high at only 70 mph, but remember that you've got almost 6000 RPM'S TO GO!!

Rotary engines are always like that, perfectly normal.

3500rpm is high on a V6 or V8, this is a rotary the experimental limits of this engine are 13000rpm (blew up at 14000rpm), fewer moving parts=happier spinning at higher rpms

The engine doesn't involve stop and go motions, it's spinning around. Much smoother and rev happy.

Also in case you didn't know, the rotors themselves spin at 1/3rd the displayed RPMs, so most of your car motor mass is only hitting 3000 rpm when you are seeing 9000 on the dash.

Look at this video:

Not to worry.
3k translates to less than 1/3 max allowable. The Renesis is unstressed at that speed.

6th gear roughly equates 20 MPH per 1,000 RPM. So your exactly right on the money!

It's not even that unusual, Hondas are the same. A Prelude spins at about 3,500 rpm at 70 mph in top gear. An Integra might even be higher.
