Rotars not covered by warranty

I am dealing with my only mazda dealership about an issue I have with breaking.
When I break at high speeds, like on the freeway, the car shakes, steering column shakes....

I have not made any hard breaks, or abused the car (25k miles) and I was under the impression that the break system was covered.

Can anyone give me advice? Will need to call Mazda Corporate to double check... doesn't seem right. Then again, this is my first new car.

Heyarnold... what do you mean get them cut?
The dealership quoted me $150 to grind them down. Do you mean slot the rotors?

Yea...I agree with heyarnold69...get those things turned. With your mileage your are probably more than due. Take your car to a brake shop and they should do it for between 10 and $25 per rotor. And to answer your question. The rotors are put on a machine and spun while a very small amount of metal is removed from the rotor.

sadly this is true. best bet is to try and get them resurfaced, which wouldn't be too difficult if you are mechanically inclined. sometimes, even resurfacing the rotors wont fix them because they are TOO warped, in which case you would have to purchase new one. Best of luck to ya.

Hey zeblein, you spelled brake, brakes, braking, and rotors wrong.

Anyways, just have your rotors resurfaced and your braking will feel smooth again.

Only the non wear and tear brake items are covered... no pads, rotors, drums or shoes on any car that I know of(BMW has free maintenance and thus seperates the coverage). Caliper's, Master cylinders and maybe a few more components are covered.

cutting rotors is old school

Just replace them. They are warped. By the time you cut them, the rotors are nearly out of spec and will needing replaced soon anyways.

It's called wear and tear, and it's never covered by a warranty or insurance.

You could resurface them, but chances are they would just warp again in a several thousand miles and then you'll need to get new rotors anyways.

It's cheaper to just get new rotors. They're designed to be replaced.

Get new ones.

Riding the brakes will warp them.
