we tried this a while back thanks to a former member Chickenwafer.
members were able to nominate cars and then people voted but it never really got off the ground as we couldn't get the forum admins / mods to formally adopt the idea so it was just us trying to keep it going.

well, every other forum on the planet does it. I dont see why we can't adopt it. It's truly not like a huge deal lol. But it's whatev, its not like Id ever win anyways hahaha

Going for broke
This definately sounds like a good idea. It would allow everyone to see some of the best rides out there that people have put together. So I say go for it.

Maybe picture of the week? It would have to be of your own RX-8 and not just a downloaded car with a hot chick on it. That would spark some people to be really, really creative.
I don't think we need a "Ride of the Month". I think the rides of the month will just end up belonging to the people that have an endless cash flow or own their own shop.
"Ride of the Week" might be a little better because more vehicles will be shown including some of the less costly rides that still catch your eye.
Most of us have read about all the higher end set-ups for years now.

maybe ride of the week won't give people time to post their pics and/or vote. Ride of the month on the other hand, would allow fellow rx8 guys to come up with nice pics and make it so that it doesn't rush that much.. Again I said MAYBE... Sounds good anyways

If its best picture a lot of people could enter and would be somewhat fair. But also knowing us in the rx8club, Konig could just post a pic of his wwp with april bending over and he would win best picture of the year...
idk its a very tough choice. Everyone will have to be mature about it.

IMO, once you win, you shouldnt be able to win again for 12 months. That way, no one wins more than once in a year **cough altspace**

IMO - the hardest part about making this work is having an active forum member that can keep track of it. They'll need to keep track of that week's/month's participants and the votes. They'll also need to come up with all the parameters to insure that there's no cheating (yes there have been cheaters logging in w/random user names and voting for themselves - sad, i know). And most of all - they'll need to be on the thread as much as possible to address issues n' inquires.
TBH - i would much rather see a "Pic of the Month" Thread instead of a "ride of the month"
Reason: so that it doesn't turn into a beauty contest. People with more money will have the advantage because they'll be the ones w/the turbo's or superchargers and the volks, gram lights, advans etc that some can't afford - which will probably dishearten a lot of people - killing the initiative to progress. We all have the same car but we all don't have the same wallet.
That and i would much rather see an 8 slaughtering a car on the track than an 8 beating out a civic at Hot Import Nights...

he can compete with one picture a year but he has too many great pics already, they can be used for the next 30 years 
pic of the month ftw.
because i will never win the ride of the month period.. i just dont have that kind of wallet or photo skills. Let alone a camera...

Agreed. Our cars werent designed to be beauty queens. They were meant to be driven. Track pics, drift pics, etc. not strictly show cars. Our cars were meant to be driven hard but well taken care of. Poor Dr. Wankel would roll in his grave if he thought everyone wanted his rotary to be a beauty queen.
