Relocated to Los Angeles... Rx8's way cheaper?

Recently moved to los angeles (beverly hills) and I've been looking at rx8's. Insurance is giving me 9,500 for my salvaged rx8 and I'm adding another thousand to it. I found a 2005 red rx8 with custom 19" XXR racing rims, new racing suspension, new racing springs, red calipers, dual racing exhaust, pioneer screen and limo tint.
This car has 57000 original miles and Is asking around 12. If I talk him down to 10.5 would that be a steal? I paid 7,000 for my ss 04 gt 4 speed with 30k on new engine

All of those "Racing" adjectives are probably applied by the seller? None of those things really denotes "racing". Like 19s. They are heavier than 18s. Many of the actual racers go to 17s, since wheel weight makes a different. "Racing suspension", if it was accurate, would imply some level of high grade coilovers, which include springs. Why are the "Racing springs" counted differently? I'd guess that they were just cheap lowering springs. Red calipers is just some paint. "Racing exhaust" means either not emissions legal (which will cause you problems in CA) or it's actually just a normal catback that adds literally zero horsepower.

Get a compression test if you want to buy it, but my gut says "stay away from that car". If it has mods you actually want, then sure, but if it's claiming "racing" but actually isn't then I'd be very worried about what else the owner would be lying about. Or if not intentionally lying, talking completely out of his *** in ignorance and then I'd worry about what damage he has done through his ignorance.

I'm not sure where you're normally from but 12k for an '05 is not that good of a deal... I've seen 06-07's going for that price depending on condition, mileage and which package.

XXR wheels are pretty cheap, probably $400-500 for an entire set, there's nothing "racing" about them. They're just knock offs IMO will have a reputation like Rotas...

I pretty much agree with everything RIWWP said. Sounds to me like an eBay put together Rx-8. I'd look for a stock Rx-8, no mods > cheap mods.
