reciently bought a RX-8 and...
hey guys!
i reciently bought an used 2005 RX-8, and its running good, no problems what so ever, but i recently found that the engine dip stick has a little of a milky white stuff on it. i made a oil change and i replace the oil filter but after a couple of days it has started to make the milky thing again. i have read a lot of post all over the web and most of them say that its normal and other say its not. can someone explain me if its normal or not? i have checked the coolant and it has the same green color as any coolant has, so i have run out of ideas. any suggestions?????

98% of posts saying that it's not normal is sarcasm of people getting tired of dealing with this question every fall.
2% of posts saying that it's not normal are people who don't know what they are talking about.

If you play with your dipstick enough, a white milky substance will always come out...
No you won't go blind...
No your palms will not grow hair...
...Wait, you were talking about the car???!!!!??!!!!! Never mind what I said
Yes, white, oily residue on the oil dipstick is perfectly normal.

It's moisture in the oil. You're not getting it heated up enough. When I first bought my Rx8, I had that problem, from the previous owner's driving habits.
However, I'm no fan of driving a vehicle with the engine oil cold, so I always give my Rx8 time to warm the engine up.
Combine that with the actual trip, and you're heating the moisture out of the oil. Suddenly, no more white stuff on your dipstick.
Short trips don't sufficiently heat your engine oil up.
