Post Question

Hello everybody, i have a 2004 mazda rx-8 which is stock without any gps navigation or anything, i was wondering can i install the in-dash navigation systme from another rx-8? would it fit? and what about the buttons and wiring?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but that would be difficult. There's no good place to put it, you'd have to rip out the sound sound system and find something else that would fit while leaving room for the nav, and the nav would still be in an awkward spot, there's a reason why the factory nav sits on top of the dash. Not sure what you would have to do about the climate controls.

Easier to just get a portable nav and stick it to the windshield.

am sorry but i meant an in-dash navigation system from another mazda rx-8, would that still fit?

there is a DIY on this. looked like a LOT of work. i think the guy said buying everything you need is like 3000 dollars. there is so much stuff that has to be added / changed.

You'd have to swap out the dash, and I imagine that pulling out all of the wiring and putting it in your car would be pretty involved. I'm sure it's possible, but I don't think it would be easy. Search for a DIY, maybe someone has done it.

EDIT: post above snuck in while I was typing, but confirms what I was worried about. Just get a Garmin.
